We just moved our girls to a new coop yesterday. They are 9 weeks. It's an 8x8 and we have 10. There is a TON of room for them all but some seem to be showing aggression towards the others. Fluffing feathers and running at one another and jumping on each other. I'm guessing this is their way of...
We get along REALLY well with our neighbors. They are all related to one another and they are our only neighbors since we live in a woodsy area. We told the son and daughter in law about our chicks and their first reaction was "Carol (the mom) is going to flip out! She hates chickens!" Our yards...

I posted this in the raising chicks topic but thought i'd try here too.
One of my new chicks has a scab below her bum and the other chicks pecked it off. It bled a little and I just want to make sure that she'll be ok and there's nothing else I should do. THANKS!
under one of my chicks bums is a scab that the another chick has picked off. wondering what I should do. it bled just a little and it doesn't seem to bother her but it's still an open wound. worried about infections!
Our piggy Junior recently passed away and we'll be looking into a new piggy next summer as we're expecting a baby in June. We adopt from a great woman in OH that rescues the little oinkers! Are there any other piggy lovers here?
my DH has been considering raising and releasing pheasants. Any suggestions for introducing them into the area we live in? there are already some here and there.
My daughter was so excited about naming our new chicks that I couldn't resist! There are only a select few that have marking so we can tell them apart and the rest just get called what ever name we want to call them at the time.
Here they are:
Sunny
Patsy
Loretta
June
Nugget
Olivia

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah a new stay at home mom and lover of chickens! lol I am also a first time chick mom! It's a project that I have wanted to take on for a few years now and I am SO ready to get started!
Is there anything I should do with the yard before we put our coop up? We're new to this and our chicks are just a few days old. Our lawn isn't treated or anything but I just want to see if there's any preventative measures I need to take for pests.
We've had 6 tetra tints for 2 days and just got a few rhode island reds and a plymouth rock today. Some of the tetras seem to be unhappy with their new brood mates. Is there something I can do to make it easier on my little ones? The newbies are only 24 hours old and the others are 5 days. They...

I have been looking into starting our backyard flock for about a year. We just bought our chicks yesterday and you would not believe the advice that I have received in the past 2 days! Even from people who have never had chickens! Any tips on how to tame the know it alls?
I'm new to this and can't find advice anywhere on how much or how often to supply feed to our new clan! They are 5 days old and when I do feed them it seems to be gone very quick! I don't want to over/under feed.
