just ordered up 15 chicks from meyer hatchery....12 delaware chicks and 3 black jersey giant chicks...they say theyll b here between july 26 through 28th...cant wait til they show up...

ive lost a couple of hens to a fox and now im looking to get a couple of roosters to defend my flock...does anyone have any suggestions on a good breed that will defend a flock...i was thinking about a black jersey giant cuz of there size but not sure...any suggestions

electric fence should help...i had a foxe take out 2 of my chickens just before dusk 2nite...it wasnnt interested in feeding just killing...foxes are sly creatures n alot of them live in the city cause of easy access 2 food...the fox u seen prob has a den close by...

lost 2 chickens to a fox. the thing didnt even kill for food it went after them for sport. if i didnt gett out there wen i did it would of been 3 but it dropped then 1 wen it seen me. then it started coming back behind the coop n the dog chased it back away...

i used a 35 gal tub for the couple weeks then it got crowded...but for $30 is able to build a new brooder that was 28"x48"x18"

the 4 x 8 is to small...the outside pen should be atleast 10x10

my 12 chicks are in the brooder in the bedroom...its the safest place away from the cats and dog...

i believe there lil over 2 weeks old...
