    Only advice I have is to keep everything clean and the grass mowed down where they can't hide and are visible. They will keep coming back you will just be able to see them sooner.

    I added a sign one of my nieces made for me, "No snakes allowed" but in all seriousness try and keep the the coop and the surroundings as clean as possible. Rattlesnakes usually give a warning sign, copperheads are the ones I have found to be everywhere and anywhere.

    If your planing on doing anything in the inside you need to remove them temporarily from the area. Paint would be a concern for me but waterseal doesn't seem so bad cause it dries pretty quick.     I purchased some used 4' horse fence 2x4 squares real heavy stuff on craigslist $100 for 330' roll. So I stacked it and made a 8' fence. Now my concern is the top because there aren't many trees around here but many hawks in the area.

    Edging over $600 for my coop and run.

    Wow I didn't realize it was going to take that much $$ to build my coop. I bought most of the materials and were going to start building tomorrow. It's going to be a 20'x8' coop and a 24'x29' run. Is this going to be enough for 40 birds or will they be too crowded?
