    I need to know How many perches. How wide for 14 chickens.

    My 6 big girls stay on one perch all stuffed together. The new babies sleep the same way in the nursery. If I do a ladder type with 5 perches 4 feet wide do you think this would be enough that is the width of the coop. My coop is longer then wide so we did not have to cut so much wood.

    Using Lime

    Is it ok to use lime in the hen house. I know they use it in horse stalls help dries things out and makes it smell better. Does any one know if this would hurt the chickens. I use it under the bunny cage and in her run.

    I just bought the Purina brand food for the girls they are not eating it. I had a coupon. So now I'm back to tractor supply for the real food. I have bought 50lbs. so I will mix it in. Hopefully they will eat it and not waste it.

    My girls love the peanuts. Just takes time to shell them. So maybe it will give them something to do. They are in a pen all day. They do not like cabbage to much other wise I would hang one just to see if they would eat it. Thanks for the quick response.

    Do I need food and water both inside and outside of the coop?

    I have a gallon cont. outside in there pen for water. I give them there snacks outside also. Inside I have a quart water and two feeders wall mounted the kind they use for bunny's and such they usually lasts a couple of days. I have 6 girls.

    Well thank you every one. I'm going to try it but I think I will keep the peels out of there reach. I cut up veges for them I can share one of my oranges with them. Just to see what happens.

    I use pine shavings from a friend who has a wood working shop. Keeps me supplied. He said poplar has nothing in it that would hurt any body can I use these shavings. I trust him he knows his stuff. Just wanted to make sure It's OK to use with the girls.
