My Birchens started laying! They are the eggs on far left of the picture, 2nd from top on left and bottom of 2nd row, I think they are a very nice color.
I am thinking he will move in with my OE and EE's... Just need to cross my fingers like you and hope a nice one hatches out of these eggs... I have been excited ever since I ordered them. I guess I can concentrate on my AM's for now... kept a very nice Black cockerel out of my last batch. I...
Hoping the same. So you do not think he is a lost cause? Worse case scenario is he will go into my layer pen, and I have my OE's and EE's in there... may be a nice addition towards OE's as he came from a very dark egg.
I have some nice pullets, but this was my best hope for a roo, the others I culled earlier do to more gold bleed through. I do have some eggs on the way soon... :-) Hopefully I can get a very nice Cockerel out of them.
I am looking for some Birchens, I had bought eggs several months ago and had a good hatch. However, the 4 cockerels that I hatched, all have a lot of copperish bleed through on the backs. The pullets look nice but do not want to breed with the Cockerel that has this much copper. Also very...
You posted while I was typing! No I live up near Bellingham. At $18 for a 50# bag I need to find a better deal. I have room to store feed, just curious what his bulk feed comes in? I currently store all my feed in 32 gallon plastic garbage cans.

1st pic is 6 weeks old
Then here again at 14 weeks
I need to...
My eggs in the 2 incubators are hatching! I set 12 BBS Birchens, 14 Birchens and 10 WHeatens, along with a few barnyard mixes (Kids wanted them.. LOL) So far I have 4 Birchens and a Wheaten(I hope, it is very light colored and can't tell yet if it came out of a bbs shell or not, will...
My incubators are by the woodstove, and I can fire that up also. WIth the generator I can keep them going without a problem, as long as I am home when it happens! We get some nasty winds up here, and have used the generators quite a bit... I really want to get a big generator that kicks on...
With two incubators going full of eggs, I am worried about the storm that is about to hit us up here on the Island... supposed to be lots of wind. Hope we don't lose power, but I have the generator standing by just in case....
Here is the pic of the eggs in the 'bator this morning.... miscounted there are actually 15 BBS Birchen eggs... :-) Eggs on far side are from BJ Poultry, in the middle are the Wheaten and the near side 15 are from Aceschix.
