Sorry I don’t know. I think the brown colours are more likely to appear over blue. Can you post some pictures of the chicks?. And some more growing up to adults?:caf

Something different Looks a lot like they should. Size? Hens should be something like 700 grams. I made an article or a review on Tounaisis. With pictures. This was my red lavender Dutch cockerel/rooster (up) . I still have this hen:

I don‘t know if you can buy Naine de Tournaisis in the States. Tournaisis are not a common breed. Some years ago they where almost extinct. Breeders had to cross them with Old English game because there where too few. It even seems to be difficult to buy quality breed Dutch bantams in the...

Let me introduce my flock. I have taken a picture of most of my flock today when they where free ranging. Left: Cookie a Millefleur / naine de Tournaisis with too much brown feathers for a standard type. Front: Pino, mostly Dutch lavender (a bit too heavy and bold for a real Dutch). Janice, a...

Chickens seem to think something with a red color is something they can eat. Try red shoes/boots. :gig

Always great to get the first eggs. Congrats. :celebrate If you store the eggs it’s better not to rinse with water. Using a paper towel to get the dirt of is good. Never use dirty eggs to hatch. How come the are dirty? I would try to let the hens lay in a clean nestbox.

I suggested this a few years back in another topic about Dutch bantams. But this is not allowed (regulations). And I do not have a rooster anymore because it made too much noise. I am looking for a quit rooster to keep. :clap

I have no recent pics on my phone. Just got a new smartphone last month. Some old pics attached. The cockerel didn’t stay. And the chicks above from a hatch last spring from another rooster are not pure bred.

If you want to be sure you are buying Dutch, ask pictures of the hens and rooster. Compare it with the specs (white earlobes, short and slate colour leggs, big tail, etc. ) I have Dutch in the Netherlands and had no Marek with my bantams. I do not buy new chicks/chickens but let the hens hatch...

So prices for chickens are about the same on both continents. Here you can't order chicks by post as far as I know. But it is not rare to buy fertile eggs that way. Eggs are distributed all over Europe by post. Especially by people who have rare breeds and contribute in shows for special...

Because of an reaction (2 pages back) I wonder what female bantam chickens cost in de US/Canada. You say its expensive and difficult to buy pullets. How come? In the Netherlands and Belgium you can buy bantam girls for 10 - 20 euro, depending on the breed and age. They are often sold from 10 -...

I dont understand youre problem. Hens do well without a rooster. Is it important to have mille fleurs? If you don't mind having mix breeds you probably can find nice chickens for little money. There is of course more to it. They need a coop and run (or free range) an food. But keeping chickens...
