That's what I was saying to my husband. I think he fell off and just took cover where he found some first. Was probably in there shortly after or just before the chooks headed in for the night.
Settle petal! It was a fluke. I was late getting out to close the coop up and it was a very tiny baby. Other than some ankle biting he couldn't have done damage. He barely had teeth. He was more scared of the chickens than they were of him. My Tuffnut was down watching while the rest of the...
Well that makes me feel better. I have a flock of rsl.
On a tota side note, just spent the night in my new travel trailer! Sold the old class c and got something everyone will be much happier in. First trip planned for Memorial Day weekend with 3 other fams. Felt like a kid in the best...
My next two on my wishlist are 2 silver laced wyandottes and two cochins or two of the polish crested. I love the laced look. I'm pretty new to keeping so my wish list is small. I think I'd prefer the wyandottes to start since they're similar in size to my flock.
Thank you! I appreciate that. A bit far for me however, chickens are worth it right? I'm looking for silver laced wyandotte pullets. I'm just in love with their look! If anyone in central florida comes across some near orlando and north, lemme know! Maybe I'll see y'all this weekend!
Ah, I gotcha. We have a momma round here that runs at the sound of a human voice. She wants nothing to do with humans. A couple males were around for a while but I haven't seen them since the bear hunt. My chooks are in the backyard obviously which is enclosed by a 6 foot privacy fence so my...
gah! I really really want a few more chooks. I've picked out a few different varieties that I'd like but it's SO expensive to just get three that are sexed. Can anyone recommend a local hatchery where I could pick up what I'm looking for instead of having them shipped?
Bears wouldn't try to eat chickens though right? Aren't they mainly eating vegetation and berries, nuts, the like round here? We have lots of bears in our neck of the woods.
Fluffybutt cuteness overload!!!! I so want more.... alas..... i can not. Poop.
On a side note, anyone in central florida heading to the Call of the Wild concert tonight?!??!? Still waiting to hear if we have tickets or not. And a sitter.....
Rant away! I can totally understand where you're coming from. raising them isn't easy and to see it go to waste, that stinks. The ol' exercise in futility. I've been wanting to upgrade the chickens water to an auto water system so maybe this is the day to do it. I don't have many so I don't need...
Thanks everyone for sharing. I feel better now. I'm still gonna block in the bottom as I've been wanting to do that anyway. When I let the chooks out to free range, they tend to run under there and if I need to get them back int he run or coop in a hurry it's a real pain in the rump.
On...
LOL! I have a feeling an electric fence and I wouldn't be a good idea. I don't die my hair and my memory is shot. Not a good combo for operating a zapper. That's a jim dandy of a set up though. If I believed in reincarnation, I'd love to come back as one of your chooks!
