X 2... all good suggestions.
Spend the time to educate yourself and decide what breed you REALLY like.
And KNOW what they look like as chicks.... I went somewhere to get "heritage breed" chicks from people claiming "all organic" and specific breeds. I paid $50 for 3 chicks who turned out to...
Hi, welcome to BYC!
MPC states on their website that USPS does not guarantee delivery times on live animals. And MPC should refund the cost of your deceased chick and prorated shipping for said chick. At least I am pretty sure that is what their policy says.
Sorry for your loss.... Glad the...
I'm not sure.
I have 2 Lavender Ameraucana. 1 feathered in super slow, no tail or shoulder feathers. He Galileo (pretty sure) now has a man bun of a tail. The other, High tower (from Police Academy movie) feathered in with everyone else but now has nice red comb at 11 or 12 weeks old. They...
Yes, MPC refunding me and said they would follow through with USPS. Why?!!! They also flagged my zip code to not ship here. I told them I will send pics of the inside of the box lid.
For sure!
Quick update.... As I was unpacking deceased chicks I noticed not one but many feces on the inside top of the box! That can only happen if the box is upside down.
We are happy with our current brood/ flock. It's a lot of fun to have a variety of breeds. I am learning more...
Ah, that's really sweet. Right now I have 29 chicks ranging from 2-19 weeks. I will be breeding my own come next year. Was hoping for some bantam to add interest to the egg basket.
I wonder if it's because they are bantam? This shipment was actually worse than the last, it took 1 day longer...
Thank you for the support! Like so many other things in life..... It is what it is.
On the upside, the rest of my flock are all doing well. Might get my first egg out of a barred rock pretty soon, she squats so fast when we just walk past her. It's exciting!
Now I know what it's like to receive a box od dead chicks.
The post office 2 hours from my house (each way) called yesterday afternoon to see if I wanted to come pick them up there. I didn't have the ability to do that. So I picked them up at my local PO at 06:45 this morning. I expressed my...
Here is a link to the place I got mine from. (Not yet, August). Those are looking like cockerels to me.

I am not sure why.... My reshipment should have been sent express, but was sent priority 3 day according to tracking. My local post master said there is no possibility of delivery today with them having not left San Fran until 0330 this morning.
My last group of brooder babies got the group...
@oldhenlikesdogs at what age does that terrible teenage rooster phase hit? And how long might it last? God knows how many cockerels I have in my current batches. I think at least 2 in my 11 week olds. Have 11 straight run, 1-3 weeks old, 19 SR coming in August, and HOPEFULLY.... 14 SR bantams...
See, that's why I said I would let people know of other's good experiences to. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt. And am glad to hear something positive!
I can't believe some of the USPS stories, meaning they are terrible not actual disbelief. They are usually pretty good here, so far...
That is what I meant. It's OK that they don't do things the same as other places. I am sure they are doing what is best for them. However it does seem they are over selling what they have.
So since I was already disappointed by my shipment of all dying chicks, I had to wait 4 more weeks while...
Thank you so much for calling out @MyPetChicken !
I had the exact same thoughts.
How dare he (Alex) not take any responsibility for their company's actions and instead try to point the finger else where? Stuff happens, but let's be honest about it.
There is no excuse for lack of...
