Hey, no worries! i was able to sell them, so it's all good to me! Maybe next year you'll get some Buffs from me----they are really nice ducks! Their egg is bigger than the khaki campbell's egg, the female buff is a good layer, and she was willing to go broody when given the...

What does he do with them?
I assume he re-sells or auctions them. When you're up to your eyeballs in roos that you don't have the heart to process yourself Tom is a great person to know!
Yes, that's what it looks like. Because at every tailgate swap he has crates full of birds for...
Tom Doherty is the go-to man for "re-homing"! He's at all the shows and NAS swaps, NEBC tailgate swaps, the FFA poutry auctions. I've never seen a person with so many birds! He's, like, Poultry Central.
tofumama,
Have you checked Craig's List? I see coops and rabbit hutches all the time in the farm-and-garden section. It's kind of hit or miss, but you never know what you might find with Craig's List. Or the bulletin board at your local feed store.
That's good to know about the temperature tolerance for parrots, darbella. I keep my heat at 62, and use the woodstove to heat at night to keep cost down. It's not drafty though. I thought parrots need 70s or warmer. I have ringneck doves, and they do fine - I cover them at night in the winter...
Oh my gosh darbella, that is a gorgeous macaw. If I kept my house warmer and had the $$, I'd make an offer. I'm sorry about your friend losing her home. It must be such a trauma, for her, including being separated from her parrot family member.
I have a little barnyard bantam broody who always hides her eggs in some dark corner of the barn, and disappears for three weeks... then shows up with a batch of week-old peeps. I hate letting them loose in the barn because I always worry they'll get eaten by weasels, so when the broody...

I hope the cool air that came in down here in coastal Mass. has reached your part of NH! It's raining and 60!!!
How many ducklings did you hatch? Are they coming to the Chickenstock next month (she asked hopefully)?
Yup, it's a lot like clipping dog toenails.
I'm still interested in Buffs and khaki Cs, and will PM you. I just saw the date for the next Chickenstock, and this time I'm gonna be there! Good Lord willing...

Thank you, that is good to know. I know how to trim the nails on my dog...
I'm sad that I missed the Chickenstock. It sounds like it was an amazing day.
About beak trimming (hope you don't mind my butting in), it's a lot like fingernails except thicker. If you hold your chickie near a light, you can see the "quick" (where blood vessels and live tissue are) meets the...

I got my first bamboos from Al at Burt Associates Bamboo, back in 1997! It was a Fargesia muriela, which grew to a big clump then flowered and died (there are a few leaves left, but it's pretty much kaput now). The new generation of fargesias should last for 120 years...

The more the merrier.
What kind of ducklings are you bringing? I was thinking of bringing some fertile khaki Campbell eggs, but also am looking for more ducks though I was hoping to get some older, or at least already fledged ones.
I have American Buffs, Khaki Campbells, Silky Ducks...
Hi darbella,
For perennials I'll have columbines (pink), Lysimachia ciliata purpurea (dark purple leaves, yellow flowers... spreads like wildfire which makes it great for filling empty spaces), lemon balm, and a golden form of Agastache (purple flowers, chartreuse-gold leaves... a knockout!)...
