Yes they forage pretty well, they are realy friendly if you raise them from ducklings however mine isn't so fond of me right now because she is broody and her sister just died, they fly like bricks, and mine loooooves worms and minnows but I only give my ducks minnows in the winter when I get...
She is in the shed I keep them in at night in the nesting boxes.
My Muscovy is also nesting in there.
Lots of shade in there since it is in a shed. But it is insulated.
Hey guys i think my blue swede is going broody but i dont know for sure since this is my first time having ducks. How can i tell for sure. I have a muscovy that is broody. Do they kinda do it the same way. My swede is on the nest right now and its 80 degrees out and she usualy is in the water...
Do blue swedish go broody by themselves?
i do have a muscovy drake that had mated her in the past but he has a muscovy female so he doesnt pay too much attention to my swede. But anyways i was wondering if my blue swedish will go broody?
Update. My silver swed is doing a little bit better it can stand up in its own once and a while and i got it to eat some worms becase it wouldn't eat its food.
Ok thanks for the tips guys. But the one is not able to walk now. What could it be? I know my Muscovy Drake is pulling its feathers so i seperated them but now it cant walk and im realy worried. What should i do?
My blue swedish female stopped laying eggs a few days ago and i checked her vent and it was realy cracked and split. Is this because she layed too big of an egg or is it something else because the last egg she layed was huge
I have two Swedish ducks one is a blue and the other is a silver/splashed they are sisters. One of them lays good sized eggs, and the other lays smaller ones. Is there an egg size difference between the two or is the other duck just not as healthy?
my silver Swedish didn't want to leave the nesting box this morning and when I tried to get to move she was limping do you guys think that my Muscovy drake could have been the reason for this or is it something else? I'm a first year duck owner so I don't know much. I'm probably going to put...
I now know for sure that my muscovy drake is mating with my Swedish female because I just saw it happen. Is this bad? she is only 4 1/2 months old, but she is laying.
As they get older one of the tail feathers will curl. If the beak is green it's probably a Drake. If their voice is low and raspy it's probably a drake.
