I did the same thing. I thought for sure one of the goose eggs was wobbling, but the more I stared the more I think I just was seeing things and hoping for wobbling, lol.
Congrats to everyone with chicks! I'm still waiting for mine. My geese are on day 26 now, my calls around day 19-20 I think. Not that much longer, and I'll have babies too.
I think my incubator is running a little low. I stuck one of the plugs in to bring it up a little. All my quail that were due yesterday hatched today. Their feet are a little curled from being in the egg an extra day (2 if you count that they usually hatch at 17 not 18 days). I've had a few like...
I've been taking mine out since a few days ago to mist and cool, since I'm hatching ducks and geese. While they're out, I've been taking a quick peek. My geese are far enough along see legs and other body parts dancing around.
I pulled out 5 clear call eggs today, and 2 with blood rings. Down to 15, of which 13 look really good. 2, including my double yolker, are pretty iffy but I'll give them another day at least. I'll be happy with half a dozen ducklings. They were shipped, it's not breeding season, and it's cold...
My digital thermometer/hygrometer always reads 2 degrees lower than my analog ones. I went and bought a couple of the cheap 2 dollar aquarium thermometers from walmart when I suspected it wasn't right, and sure enough they both say 100 and the digital one has been saying 98.
Except since my calls take a but longer to cook, I have around 20 days. My geese will be on day 29 on groundhogs day though, and since they take 28-32 days from what I've read I still have a chance for a groundhog's day baby.
I don't have very high hopes for it, but since it's in there I might as well try. I need to get my batteries charged for my camera so I can take pictures as it progresses, just in case they make it. Would be kind of neat.
Well, I found 2 call eggs today with little cracks so I took them out and cracked them open. I know they are fertile for sure now, they had big old bullseyes after a day of incubation. I went ahead and candled the rest to make sure I didn't miss anymore, and I have one with 2 yolks and 2 blobs...
Ok, I got my eggs yesterday and put them in this morning. There's 2 african goose eggs (on day 8), 3 roman tufted goose eggs(on day 4 I think), 24 call duck eggs, 11 quail eggs(due sometime in the next day, then some next week), and a quail chick that popped out while I was loading the incubator...
I'm lucky my eggs got here today too. They had the wrong house number on the package, but they brought them anyway and asked if it was me. I wish 9 would hurry and get here so I can open them and see how good a trip they had.
My eggs are here. I'm waiting for the kids to go to sleep to open them, but they are here and will be in the bator by morning. I'm so excited, these are my first calls so hope I can get a good hatch!
No, I dry incubate and just raise the humidity to around 65-75 when I have external pips for everyone. I also take out the goose eggs and mist them. Quail need about the same humidity as waterfowl though. I have more problems with always having staggered hatches going on so no one really gets...
2 of my african goose eggs have veining! I'll give the other 2 another day or so at least. I also have 3 roman tufted geese set on monday night, hope to see development by this weekend in those. I have my 24 calls due to arrive tomorrow. I also have about a dozen quail eggs in there, but those...
