    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

My RIW is by far my Favourite hen! She's outlaying the 2 Australorps who were her hatch buddies. My lovely silkie did an egg fart on Monday, then went full broody in her empty nest box yesterday. Yes, she went broody on air. Today she was still convinced she was going to hatch air so I took her...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

That does sound interesting! I know alot of duck incubators swear by cooling eggs daily along with the misting but had wondered why chickeners didn't do the cooling part

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

I can't be 100% hes half favorelle, thats just going off how he looks(you know how when you have chickens everyone gifts you their unwanted chickens? Thats what happened). But he definitely has silkie legs and the fluff under those regal feathers. So what ever cross he is, he went over his...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

14 have hatched. I'm pretty sure the last 6 failed, but giving another 24hrs to be sure. All in all for a first time in a decade, with ducklings and shipped eggs, I'm pretty happy with the hatch. Next up will be 5x silkiexflavorellexsilkie, 5x RIWxAustralorp and 3xblack australorpxblue australorp

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

We have a bubba! My humidity drop was after adjusting temp with no added water. After wrapping around outside with towels (careful to leave vents clear) the humidity went back to normal. Phew.

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

Who would think dropping the temp 0.2 of a degree would cause my humidity to plummet? :barnie:he. At a loss of how to raise it. All the overflow holes underneath are over flowing, and the 2 chux I laid out flat it just won't get over 60%. Whose idea was it to hatch ducklings first? :smack to...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

Hows everyones eggys coming along? I am now down to 11 indian runners and 11 pekin. Had 4 quitters over weekend, so decided to investigate. I apparently quit earlier theb I thought. 2 I think had to do with the holes in the eggs, they just gave up. And the other... well its body was fully formed...

    SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG!!!

I have 3 quitters. Sad. But! Whats with the blue/black veins? Is this a sign of impending doom or is it normal? One of my very active eggs has started to develop blue veins too. Tried to get pic of said egg but came out blurry, so heres a dead egg
