    Lets talk about goats!

They look very much like mine did last year. They really start showing in the last month of their pregnancy and I bet your smaller girl will start growing a basketball belly then. It also has a lot to do with their rumen and shape they have normally. Here are pics of my 3 girls taken on...

    Lets talk about goats!

My only experience with pregnant goats proved to be different for each of the three does. My FF did not get a bump until the last 2 weeks and it was small but Bam Bam her buckling was partying every day for the last month and it was quite obvious she was indeed pregnant. My other two had...

This is normal when you get new goats. They need to establish who is the top goat. You need to be sure the boys can eat and they are not being injured. Things should settle down as time goes on. If it were me I would give them a month to settle in and see if things settle down. Good luck!!!

Here is our goat house. inside is sectioned into 2 areas and we have climbing structures and houses on either side. We have since enclosed the top also. The heat lamp was not being used, it was just there in case one of my does kidded and we needed extra heat for the newborn.

    Lets talk about goats!

I have about 1/3 of an acre enclosed with a 48X48 goat house attached for enclosing my 12 goats at night. During the day they have access to an additional acre, I feel this is not enough for them and I am going to be fencing in an additional 2 acres. Someone told me 1 acre per 8 mini goats or...

    Lets talk about goats!

With that small of an area I would not be getting standard size goats. I would go with Nigerian dwarf if you want milk or either pygmy or Nigerian Dwarf if you just want them for pets. A run for standard size goats IMO would not work. I own both standard and mini breeds.

    Lets talk about goats!

My new lamancha doe is relentless with my LGD and head butting him. Thank goodness he is an LGD because he just moves away from her and never shows her any aggression. It has been 4 weeks now and she still hates him, hopefully she will warm up to him. Her twins love him probably because he...

I have also never dealt with this but if you have BOSE or vitamin E and selineum gel it may help. Also I have read about splinting and it being successful. Congrats on the kids and hope your doeling gets better.

    Lets talk about goats!

From my experience it just takes time, some goats need more time then others. I bought 3 pygmys that were not friendly. The youngest took about 2 weeks and the 6 month old took about 2 months. The other one is still not a touchy feely goat but she lets me touch her at feeding time. I think...

    Lets talk about goats!

The kids have probably dropped and are getting into position for delivery. This causes a sunken in or hallowed look. I have read about this, it supposedly happens every time but it never happened to my three does that kidded. It is probably what you are seeing, it just means she is getting...

    Lets talk about goats!

None of my Nigerian Dwarfs are bottle babies but they are super friendly and love to sit in my lap. If I do not pet them they nudge me or lick me to let me know they need attention. I think a lot of being friendly is how much time you spend with them. I recently purchased a Lamancha doe with...

    Lets talk about goats!

Oh, ok sorry I don't know if you can fix it at this point. Maybe someone with more experience can help. I made my does udder bras because I could not keep the kids from nursing they are 6 months old and so far they can not nurse with the ones I made.

    Lets talk about goats!

If she only had one kid and she was not drinking from both sides it causes a lopsided udder. You should always milk the side that is not getting used to prevent a permanent lopsided udder. If she is breed and due in two weeks I would not be milking her, though. I am newer to goats so I am not...

:lau. Mine either, maybe we have seriously spoiled goats. Mine will not even eat treats that have fallen to the floor. They do eat the fallen apples though. Goats are so funny and fun at the same time.

    Lets talk about goats!

Well I did a little research and found this site with edible and poisonous stuff for goats. You might want to check it out and see if they like something from the edible side if you do not want to feed to much grain. www.fiascofarm.com/goats/poisonousplants.htm...

Wow, I did not know fruit was not good. Mine eat the fallen apples a lot and have never had any problems but I have had few incidents with them choking on pellets trying to inhale them to quickly.

    Lets talk about goats!

Mine eat all kinds of good stuff. See if they like baby carrots and each kid could give them 1 baby carrot. Mine love Carrots. They also love apples, we have an apple tree and they love to eat them. You could slice apples up and each kid could give them 1 apple wedge. Mine also love raisins...
