Hello
Sorry, have just looked on the forum. Not at home at the moment, Mum is very ill so I’m sitting with her. Macmillan Nurses are brilliant and the District Nurses Team and Hospice at home.
Hubby will have to look after my dogs and chickens.
Yes, I give them a few live mealworms in the afternoon and she didn’t even get off the nest......not even when I held a blooming worm in front of her nose...’er, beak!!
Dog crate is ready!!
Thanks to @Yorkshire Coop and @Chickencountryuk
I felt so sorry for her. She was so sweet and didn’t peck me, just puffed her feathers out a bit. I locked her out of the coop and run and when I came back from walking the dogs she was sitting under the nesting box looking really soulful :barnie...
Hi
As this is the UK thread I’ll post on here first.
I have a trio of Silkies, one rooster and two hens, all hatched in my kitchen last year (28.06.17) and one of the girls has gone broody.
I am a total newbie and don’t want any more chicks at the moment so am I doing the right thing just...
Wow! Loving your family!
I’ve never been into goats, but yours are sweet:love
I’m NOT going to show hubbie these pictures because he’s been pining for alpacas for the last five years or so.
So, the goats. Do you have them for their milk? Are you intolerant of dairy? Or do you make soap? I made...
They HATE being backtrooped!
To keep me sane.......relatively, my boys say.......I have my dogs....and I’ve bought a sewing machine. I’ve not sewn since we bought this house 21 years ago and I made the curtains, so I’m enjoying it again *call me the Midnight Quilter* :bun
Hi Bonnie
I know what you mean! Hah...........but we do buy ‘gear’ for our youngest still  He always seems to need equipment!
We have a couple of houses in the next village with a field at the back and so we’ll be moving into one of them in the next couple of years (hopefully) so...
Hi Bonnie
That sounds like a great family!
I live in Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, one mile from the coast and have two Schnoodles and a trio of Silkies.
I have two sons. One is married and lives in the next village and the youngest is working towards his ‘green lid’
We have a...
Hi and welcome from Cumbria.
I have a trio of ‘Marauding Chickins’, two dogs and a partri........’er .......I am very new to Silkie chickens so this site is going to be really useful to me.
Already have ‘hen envy’ and ‘coop envy’ of other postings. :welcome
Yeah, I think I may end up with a couple of Australorps.........not another rooster though! I hope that’s spelled correctly.....autocorrect didn’t recognise the chicken breed, it just wanted to spell ‘Australia’ :barnie
Love it that my rooster sets himself up to my son. HAH :celebrate
Used to holiday in Bournemouth. Gorgeous beach and beautiful gardens. Mum and Dad drove a Maxi car through night after work (me and my sister asleep in the back) to arrive in the morning. We stayed in a hotel called The White Hermitage I think.....I’m telling my age!! :old
Hi, I’m from Cumbria and am very new to chicken keeping.
I was given 11 Silkie eggs last year and had 7 hatch.
I’ve signed up to the sister site and there’s loads of information for newbies like me. I believe I’ll need it as I’ve been told that Silkies can be rather broody. Gah!
I had 2 hens...
