So I had a mystery chick hatch two days early......? First time this has happened to me, normally they are all on the same day. These eggs just randomly came in the mail, and in my haste to unpack them I threw away the box and didn't catch the name to see if it was from someone I previously...

It's currently 44 out, in the middle of july....middle of summer and I'm worrying about trying to keep chicks I recently kicked outside; warm. lol

I would never be able to handle that, if it's 80 deg out I think it's too hot. :P

Had 5 quail in the bator this morning before I left for work, all hatched on sunday. Really hoping I have some more little fluffers in there, though I've never had anything hatch later than the first day.... Sure hope this time is different, because there are actually probably 10 eggs left in there.

So I got to take my babies out of the incubator last night, I just cant get over how big and fluffy they are! I'll get some pictures, but its amazing the difference in size compared to any other ones that I've hatched this year! Wonder what would do that since I've mostly hatched brahmas this...

All 5 of my own crosses hatched and so far I have one of my shipped eggs hatched, today is day 22. Was a complete mystery what my crosses would be lol, buff brahma roo & over red star, easter egger, and I think a buff brahma were the hens. They are big fluffy chicks with big fluffy feet, mostly...

Turns out the chicken eggs I received that I thought were supposed to be my quail, were actually sent by a mystery person...because the seller of the quail haven't even sent the eggs yet due to the fourth. I may be losing my mind lol... I am 99.9% positive that I did not order more eggs other...

I have been having the same exact problems, completely formed chicks just no piping or have internal pips. with just a handful all popping out within hours of each other.

I think that may be exactly what is causing these problems, is doing this see-saw turning, because I do the same thing I think. I have a plastic egg holder that I just lean against the side and then turn and spin it (gently of course). Not sure what else I could do with shipped eggs though...

It must just be a bad time for shipped eggs, I candled my buff leghorns last night and only 3 appear to be developing?! Out of 18! I am 98% sure its just shipped eggs and not my coolerbator because I just moved 5 of my 6 "mixed flock" eggs into my brinsea for lockdown and they were swimming...

I wonder if in my brinsea I could get away with hatching my shipped eggs upright with a rack in....hmmmm, I wouldn't see why not i guess. Would be the same as having an egg carton in there or something I would think. My others I'm probably going to keep laying down though, since they have been...

So today I found out that one of my co-workers would take 50 ish quail a month if I had them, at two weeks old!.....oh darn I'm going to have to hatch some more! Rats rats rats. I hope I can get two groups set up and just put all the eggs in the incubator every week, might have to look at...

It really sucks you right in, especially when you start bidding on some great looking eggs and someone else wants the same thing. "MUST HAVE THEM"!

So I actually ended up doing exactly this....lol. I had bought some A & M cotournix a few days ago thinking I would give them a try. Well then today I (mysteriously blacked out, no recall at all) bid on some snowflake bobwhites today (thinking I will never get them because last time I had to...

In a way I almost hope that that's what the problem is but then again....lol. Need to get my starter stock somehow and its hard to find chicks for some of the breeds. Or else about the same price for one chick as a box of eggs lol.

I have been yes, running from 20-35% then I have been putting them in my separate hatcher around the 65%. I am of course open to new ways because I haven't really been getting the greatest hatches. I was using a Styrofoam incubator as the hatcher but am switching to my brinsea with the humidity...
