I live in Cagayan de Oro and have 4 different breeds in my flock. I have Australorp, Visayan, the small game type hens, and a hybrid cross of RIR/Andalusian. I just got rid of two Kabir about a month ago so they aren't extinct. The problem I had with the Kabir is that they did not blend in...

My Kabir are no longer with us. The rooster went into the pot and one of Oz's roosters killed the hen. I think he attacked her because she was so big. And have gotten four eggs this week from Oz's babies. The first two eggs were very tiny, which did not surprise me. The next two were normal...
Thanks Mark, I don't have to figure out the cost with her or the Kabir rooster, because they both eat like they are horses instead of chickens. The rooster is already destined for the stew pot with some noodles.

My Kabir hen has started laying. Five eggs so far. But, I am puzzled by the size of the egg. For a hen to be the size of a small turkey she lays eggs that look like they come from a Native chicken. I would grade them as small.
My Kabir rooster is probably headed to the pot. He attacked my...
The capacity of the incubator I have only comes in that one size. It can be purchased online but, I don't think they will ship it internationally. However there are some good incubators available here in the Philippines. Check out the OLX website and do a search for incubators. Hope this...
I'm going to Cebu next week for the renewal of my daughters US Passport. Plan on staying about four days and try to get in a little fishing. Will be glad to talk with you when you get there. Just post on here and we will figure out a way to communicate.

Check OLX Philippines. It has a lot of ads. Just search for incubators and specify Cebu. I was looking a couple of weeks ago and found quite a few, many new and some used. I would suggest getting one with a separate hatcher in the bottom. Some have just the egg cradles and no where for the...

Welcome Goodguy1952 to BYC. There are many people on this website that will be glad to give you all the information you can want about chickens. Where in the Philippines will you be moving to?

Last two of the seven hatched yesterday. Cleaned out the bator early this AM and in went another two groups of 10 and 14 eggs. Overall our hatch rate is about 87%. Considering all the factors we can't control, especially brown-outs I feel pretty good with that figure. Hope it continues.

Rob,
In many ways that would be good if they would all hatch on the 20th day.
Update - started with 35 eggs, 28 from one man and 7 from another man. Candled on the 14th day and of the 28, 22 were kept in the bator. Of those 22 - as of this morning 20 have hatched. The 7 were added a day...
Good Evening Everybody,
Hope everybody has a good weekend.
I put 35 eggs in the incubator 20 days ago. Should have started hatching tomorrow afternoon. But to my surprise they started hatching this morning about 4:30 AM. I just checked them and 14 are out, two more are zipped, and 5 more...
That's what it feels like when you little ones. Just like a grand parent would feel about their grand children.
I just put a native hen in with my Kabir today. Maybe I'll get a good cross breed that will lay more eggs and not be as gigantic as the Kabir????
