i know there is a breeder in FL that does breed sumatra... let me look and make sure.... they are on the book of face... i will post their info once i confirm...
ya kno! me too!!! and thanks!!! we are very happy!!! and we have a son now of 6mo!!! lil pain in the butt!!! he will soon know the power of the chicken! lol
well i am almost divorced! my ex sold off all of my stock! didnt tell me who she sold it to! so i have no idea where they went!!! i am now living with my fiance and her parents until we get on our feet again! i am banned from getting any "farm animals"... looking for a house with land!!!
it is always a hard choice to make! but patience is always rewarded! i now have a longer wait than expected due to VA issues..... i hope to be back on track within the year!
I agree with DS... i have had both hatchery and breeder stock in both sumatra and R/S Yokos... the breeder stock is far better than the hatchery and you dont have to get as many to start off with to get the results you want! i got 25 of each from a hatchery and had to cull the most for defects...
That is why I like the more game bred lines... a game bred line will have more success at broody hens than a line that is strictly managed and hens never are allowed to brood. Much like hatcheries do... they breed out broodiness.
Not bashing anyone just my opinion. I have had crappy hatch rates...
nice avi! I have a hen that looks like that! lol
what other roos could have gotted to her? all the roos I have let get to my hen have produced some good looking offspring!
well my Sumatra hen now has 6 lil yokie crosses! she didn't brood them but she did a good job making some cute lil fluff balls! the yokie eggs failed to peep... anyone ever have this issue when incubating? they all grow but fail to peep. this is the 3rd hatch... about a dz and a half has been...
did you make these or are they from a breeder?
I put my girl in with my yokohama trio and so far have 3 babies! all silver and gold except one who is darker than the rest hardly any white other than on the belly and wing tips. anyone else have a Sumatra cross that came out nice?
