On a side note- does Esmeralda's eye look normal to you? It's getting that red skin like her comb. She is the only one. Is this ok?

They do go in at night by themselves. My husband was letting them out during the day for a few hours, and after, he would gentle corral them in and most would go in on their own. I tried that and they were not going in! The waited until dark. I was worried leaving them out there alone, because...

My EE's are 9 weeks old now. 1 is a def. Roo. I'll post his pic for reference to the girls. Well we thought they were girls, but their combs are getting very red, and they are getting splotches of red around their eyes and on cheeks. They are fighting with the Roo too. My other breeds are not...

Pickles is 7 weeks old- was the bossy one as a chick- has mellowed out dramatically. Her colors change every week though. She makes me nervous with that! Please stay a girl! She has puffy cheeks as of this week and her under body is changing from tan to now a light grey. Lastly, is...

I've been gone a few weeks, busy with the garden. Love all of your new Easter Eggers Pics! Ok so here is 7 weeks old! Jimmy 7 weeks old and a Roo. Some characteristics about this one changed recently. Now he kind of acts like an outsider, where as when he was a chick he didn't. Also...

Haha yeah it's a ramp. I didn't know people called it that. We call it the chicken ladder, and it probably won't change because we have a little one who is quite opinionated. She wants to paint it purple and I said no...but she is relentless!

Hmmmm I'm not sure. They say black under belly is male, plus you have red patches (but they do look like overall pattern). I really am not sure, but what a pretty bird.

Yeah I am finding it really interesting that all the "rules" of how to distinguish difference b/w male and female go out the window if they are from big hatcheries. I am wondering when they breed them do they just hatch any old egg for a sale? What kind of standards are they going by that lead...

Oh well that's good to know, because her comb is flat. And while her neck is blackish her breast is really tan/salmon. So that is good.

Pickles is 5 weeks old, she developed faster than all the other chickens. She was the meanest chick, but now blends in quite nicely. I am a little concerned about the feather coloring behind her neck- hoping those burnt red brown patches are ok, and she is a girl. Thanks for putting up with...

Stretch is a silver-grey color with white. 5 weeks old. I am concerned about the wide pea comb. It is wide and flat...um bald like as opposed to the other chickens. Do you think she is healthy? Or is this normal?

lol I know! He isn't really crowing, but it sounds like a screechy skwak! With a lot of voice cracking...and he does it all day. Jimmy it is. :) I wish I could keep him. I never wanted a rooster before, but his colorings are so pretty, that I wish I could. He doesn't seem fit to be a "good"...

So..still having trouble with my camera, but I tried to get a better one today. Today the girls turned 5 weeks. This is when they came out of the coop for the first time, boy was that an ordeal! I can't get any better pictures yet, because the cloth hardware blurs the pics. The chick on the...
