Processing Day Support Group ~ HELP us through the Emotions PLEASE!

They are rather pretty. Do you mean "wring their neck" as in yank it and then wait for them to die? I personally have never processed a turkey but I imagine that way would be very hard. I personally would hang upside down by the feet and then bleed it out by slicing the neck veins. This is a...

It is a black Friday deal. We will be close to one on Friday so will be checking it out. I loved that this was a fold up and store when not in use option. I would love to have a real sink in my garage to have available all the time but not really an option at this point.

For those of us that only process a few at a time I saw that Bass Pro has a processing table with a sink in it. It folds up for storage. It was in the black friday flier for $49 I think. Not sure on how big the sink part is but to have running water handy would be nice...

Yum! Love me my own personal chicken aka cornish hens. If you haven't processed before I would post a listing on CL and offer to split the processed birds with someone for their help and knowledge with the processing. If you only have a couple set a few hours aside and make sure if you feel...

I grilled then baked a couple legs. I figured they would be tough and they were but the taste was pretty good. One kid chowed down and the other refused to eat it after the first bite due to the chewiness. They did not know it was one of ours and I haven't said anything. I put it back in the...

They were 6 months and huge. I had to cut legs off of one of them to get it in a pot. The legs remind me of turkey legs. That is probably what will happen. I delegged one already to get it in a pot. Thanks. I am looking forward to tasting but I am still seeing guts at this point. Thanks for...

have not been here in a while. Life happens and seems to be happening even faster and crazier every day. I successfully processed 4 cockerels last weekend with the help of a friend. She was also wanting to learn so we both studied up and then got to work. Killing and plucking are easy enough but...

Crap I had an email from him a while back wanting one of my roosters. I responded but never heard back from him so just assumed it was one of those stupid craigslist hoaxes. He was a long ways away from me so who knows.

The Rada knives look like the ones my grandmother has and they are always super sharp. I think I am going to get me a couple to try. My parents have cutco and I loved them. My knife drawer is a hodge podge of various knives I have collected over the years. Would love to find one brand that I can...

Chickens are surprisingly tough and recover pretty quick. I usually use veterycine wound spray on mine. Most of the time they don't even get a dressing of any sort. Just sprayed with the spray and put back out or isolated depending on the case. Don't count your wounded birds out yet. Specially...

I wish you lived closer to me. I need someone with experience to hold my hand. I need a tutor as I failed chicken processing 101 the first time. My cockerels are on the count down. As soon as it cools off a bit more I am going to process.
