Thank you, Chris! Re Crossroads -- Not positive yet. We're working toward that goal.
Hi Janet
Good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your boys are really handsome
There has been some discussion on this thread about animal protein in feed. Laura mentioned that Kent feeds has some animal protein in it. Today I called a feed store that sells Kent. He stated that on the tag a additive is FISH MEAL. So guess where I am going. It will be a bit of a drive but...
I did some weighing again last night. My two Buckeye roosters at 6 months old weighed a little over 8 #'s. I weighed a Braden POL pullet and she weighed 5#'s. In comparison I weighed two Delaware roosters 5.5 months old and they weighed not quite 8 #'s. With boths breeds weighing about the same...
With the talk about weight and etc. I got curious about my two Buckeye roosters so last night I weighed mine. They are good looking boys but have a little bit of black in there hackles. I need to get a picture posted. The biggest one is just a little bit bigger then his brother so I just...

Chris good looking barns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now its your turn Jen to show a picture of your new barn.
My two rooster have just a few black feathers in there hackles. Is this a fault?
Jen are you going to Fay. in November?
The normal thing for my wife and I to do is set on the deck in the evenings and throw bread to the chickens. They really enjoy that as we do. Last night after the bread feeding my 5 month old Buckeye rooster jumped up on deck's floor and just stood there watching us as if to say thanks for the...
Chris I too will be looking for pictures of you barns!!!!!!
Jen how about showing new pictures of your new barn. We haven't see the completed pictures yet unless I missed them.
As previously discussed about the feed issue I am going to take Laura's advise on using turkey starter on my chicks that are coming this weekend(Delawares). I called the local feed store and they have some. Its 24% protein and it cost $13.50 for 50#. I have a few Del's now and adding to them. So...

I raised my Buckeyes on Tractor Supply's 24 percent chick starter until they matured and they did really well. They are big strong birds at 7 months old. I think I am going to buy that and feed that to my whole flock, layers included. They are on free range and I give just a little bit of...
