You should message @Boggy Bottom Bantams , I don't believe they're in CA, but they've got wonderful bantam Sumatras.

@ramirezframing I did, for the most part, in that I sold all of my breeding males... & I'd love a Khaki male to introduce the Dun gene to a lil' project I'm working on. Nothing special, just something that I'd personally enjoy in a bird. I love Dun, & would like to see the gene propagated...

1 copy of Blue and 1 copy of Dun = Platinum. Breeding a Khaki bird to a Splash bird would result in 100% Platinum offspring.

Those of you who have bantam Sumatras, how are their personalities? Are they super flighty? I'm considering getting into bantams, and I'm trying to decide on a breed, I really enjoyed my LF Sumatra... why not minis?

To improve lacing you should be breeding Blue birds to Blue birds, at least initially, that way you can always see exactly what you're breeding. If you're birds carry the pattern gene then using Blacks and Splash birds is alright. If they don't, or if they're only heterozygous for the gene...

I'm no longer working with Sumatras. I've bred the Dun color into my Orpingtons and I'm breeding for Platinum, Dun and Khaki English type birds.

Blue and Dun (Khaki) can combine and "double dilute" a bird, the resulting color is called Platinum. Juvies. Platinum roo I used to own.

Are your BB Reds wild type or wheaten? I considered outcrossing to Cubalayas to create a Dun Wheaten colored Sumatra, the project just never took off. I'd love to see photos.
