We are going away for a few days next week and I have someone to change the water and feed the chickens. But since the chickens can roam free usually, I was wondering if there were any activities I could easily set up to occupy them and keep them from being bored or flying over the fence...

The US is always slower then other countries unfortunately. We will get there one day, but not soon enough. She does have a large crop and it is bloated. This has been going on and off since the end of May. I gave her the coconut oil and eggs this morning. The "littles" were going after the...

Ok, I have some coconut oil because of this thread and I am cooking some eggs for my daughter this morning so that is perfect. I also have some gentian violet I could put in the yogurt. I have read it helps also in small quantities.

Ok, thank you both. So glad I took the video to show how she is behaving because she does act normal to me. She isn't a fan of yogurt. :-) But I will try to get some in her today. She is thinner then the others, but did give me an egg at least every other day up til last Saturday, but they...

She is healing from bumble foot and she has slow digestion causing her to have what appears to be sour crop. Thank you, it does make me feel me better knowing her health issue is hard to see. I don't want her to suffer, but I don't want to cull her if her "quality" of life seems fine.

Ok, all this talk of ill birds and culling has me doubting my decision with a hen. I took a video this morning, so please let me know your opinions. I have put animals to sleep before, but one I had doubts about. So I guess because of that and this being my first cull, I want to make sure I...

BMD - speachless Armor pm me if you are interested in any of the artichokes. You plant one you get 50, no lie. I dug thought I dug them all up and 50 + plants came back this year. They would make excellent shade for chickens.

I remember now. Solar cells, gotcha, I guess it doesn't matter if the sun is at it's height and burning them up. I do the beetles. My chickens love them. They will eat them if they are freshly dead. I think they might not have recognized them as food the first time I gave them the dead...

I have thought about the hardware cloth of the doors. I just need to get my husband to make one, or my neighbor to help me. My daughter had an idea of trying to use two old screen doors, but haven't had a chance to look into the size and how it would fit. Lynn I like your idea, but I have to...
