Poor chickens. I'm glad that you have found out what's going on. So sorry. At least many seem to be living normal lives. Glad you've found FF to help them along.
I think she was referring to my vitamin c in the water for de-chlorination. The source I saw is 2 milligrams per liter. But I put in 1000-1500 mg per 50-80 gallon water change in my fish. I don't know the chlorination level of my water but it's pretty bad. Also my fish try to eat it when I...
I learned a great trick on chlorinated water. If you crush some vit. C tablets into water the vitamin c chemically adheres to the chlorine and binds it in a non-toxic form. I use it every time I add water from the tap to my fish tank. Fish are super sensitive to chlorine or chloramine (which...
It sounds like you are doing everything right to me. It seems like you can only help them so much. Nature will take its course, wether that's the chick gets bigger and stronger or it starts to fade more. Hope she starts to advance.
My chickens really prefered the dryer thick texture of the cookie dough/ oatmeal consistency.
I'm so glad things are going so well with the Ff transition.
I for one appreciate all of your help immensely. It has been less than a year and I have gained so much from your help.
I'm so glad for the positive replies of those who have recently started FF and have spoken up about their success. I'm so glad I have found the information here. It has...

When food ferments or is sprouted it has been scientifically found to increase vitamins and improves the feed.

Comparing moldy feed that was molding in a cargo ship to fermented feed is like...
From what I've read and understand and experienced, you shouldn't have FF available all day to your birds, as they will over eat and will create health problems for your birds. It's a waste of feed too. It's around 1/2 cup a day per bird suggestion. Some birds may require more, but not loads...
My chickens eggs went down from 11-14 eggs a day to 7-8 a day when it was really hot here. They also weren't much interested in the feed either. They would eat it but I think the grains in it don't appeal to them when it got hot. I don't think the wet feed vs FF will make it much different...
Some feeds have smells that are terrible. Like sulfery or fishy. It's just about what's in it. I've tried the feather fixer but it was the worst smelling food.
I just ran across this tip and thought it would be of help to those who worry about chlorine or chloromine in city water supplies. If you crush up some cheap vitamin C tablets it ties up the chlorine in the tap water and makes it safe.
Fermentation is a way of preserving food. Humans have and still do ferment many foods that create a benefit to our systems. The probiotics in yogurts and kefir was finally the thing that cured my baby of a terrible yeast diaper rash that she got from taking antibiotics for an ear infection...
I used a galvanized baby chick feeder for a month and the FF did eat at the metal and I think it was bad to use. I got a new one that was plastic and it worked very well! Stay away from galvanized metals with FF.
My favorite bantam frizzled Cochin died suddenly overnight. We had just been enjoying her antics last night while watching her on the grass. We held her and just had a great time with her. I saw her poo was very well formed with the usual white cap on it. She was scratching in the grass and...
Do you suggest the broody cage with wire bottom for breaking a broody. Every time we go up there we take them off the nest and get them moving. But they rush back.
Many of us don't cover ours with water. It ferments well and it's so much easier to use in my opinion. Each have their preference but keeping water over the top is not necessary for a healthy ferment.
