Last year I was able to hide an SG Dorking Cockerel at my place. The first time the old girls met him, they attacked him. He had to jump and spin over them to get away. Then 3 of them ganged up on him, so I picked him up and took him back to the Garage. I Introduced him to the flock again the...

All were and are fine(as far as I know--They are in Redding). Did anything change other than the Rooster? Feed? Could they have parasites? It probably is the Rooster though.

No, they do not associate eating eggs with eating eggs from the nest. It is natural for them to peck an egg to see if it is good for hatching. If it breaks they will eat it. Egg eating just to eat an egg is very rare. If Hens are eating eggs, the shells are too weak and Parasites or...

Sally has a thread about it! Candle from the big end and turn the egg to the side. A detached air cell will move towards the side of the egg. Incubate them with the big end up and leave them that way when you set up for hatching. Use egg cartons to hold them at hatch. It is also a good idea...

They only force you to do that if it is Avian influenza (H5 or H7) • Exotic Newcastle disease • Turkey rhinotracheitis (Avian metapneumovirus) That is not likely at all. They make recommendations. Only claim your flock though since there is a limit for back yard flocks.

San Bernardino is 86 miles from Valencia. California has 4 labs. That is fairly far, but the test is free. The Necropsy report has a lot great information.

If one gets really sick and is suffering, They will euthanize for you. If one of the labs is close enough for you to drive there of course. I work on the Davis campus so I can get over there on my break.

Yes, the new ones have plastic gears but they replace them with metal if they break. If you buy a new one, work it hard for the warranty period.

Kitchenaid mixers have plastic gears now too. Mine broke after 25 years so I bought a new one. It broke in 6 months so I sent it back and a new one was sent to me--one that had broken for someone else. The refurbished ones get metal gears. This one has been working fine for three years now.
