You could always build a cabinet style cooler incubator. Actually quite easy and at a fraction of the cost. I have some Cream Legbar eggs in my cabinet cooler bator as we speak on day 18. I will move them tonight to the hovabator for lockdown.

I brood everything from 1 week old quail up to peachicks together. I only separate the quail until I'm sure they are agile enough to get out of the bigger babies' way. Everything else gets tossed together except waterfowl. Ducks & geese get brooded outside on wire cuz I don't change bedding 2-3 times daily & the other babies don't do well being wet.

Do not panic it you see the poults picking at the chicks' faces. They are cleaning the food off of them. The turkey hens actually teach babies to eat by holding food in their beak & letting the poults eat out of her mouth, so this is a natural instinct for them.
 
I have thought about building and incubator, My worry is getting a tray that turns the eggs. I have even kept an old water heater for the thermostats despite my DW's views on it.

Actually, I can get by with the two I have now, I am really trying to concentrate on more covered pens, coops, Hospital units and jails for the birds I have. I need to have the ability to assure my breeding plans are followed and not the hormones of the silly birds.

Grats on the turkey eggs! I figured you had to have fertile ones too! I had a dream that one hatched... out came an alligator. Not sure what that means.
 
It means you have to be leery of sticking your fingers in the turkeys mouth..

Turkey teeth can be sharp...




I am so stupid!!! I am going about this all wrong.... I have my incubators setting on a pair of nice (albeit) cheap TV tables I got in Wally world. she commented on how nice the would be for when we have company and are grilling outside...

I should get more TV tables first. Let them sit there a while then buy a new incubator or two.....Then I could say "they have always been there" when she says "where did these come from?"

Well my one hopefully broody turkey hen. Has happened she has set two days and nights solid.

It must be contagious because there are 5 more hens that gave stayed on nest all day. Will see what night brings.

So might be up to 6 broodys. Wjich is fine with me. My incubators are full and first batch won't start hatching til next weekend.

Mine is not broody yet, Just grouchy I guess.

Can you post that Amazon link? I need one to attach to my mother in Walmart. Yes I'm serious. My brother and I sometimes spend an hour looking for her. She doesn't answer her phone because she doesn't hear it.

They are 8 dollars more today than when I got mine. The store I got mine had only had 4 left, I wish I would have bought them all. I might get one to slip into my wifes pocket when we going shopping now that you mentioned your idea...


I might get a couple for putting on some of the chickens that I think are hiding eggs too.
