    Good coops??

So we'll be getting some ducklings and chicks soon, and we were thinking about making a coop in these rooms, does it seem okay? The rooms are in an old shed, we will ofcourse empty out everything and put in what they need and clean it, it looks dirtier on camera rather than what it actually is...

    Ducklings

Would it be safe for my ducklings to sleep in dog/cat beds? (new, not used) and have stuff like blankets and stuffed animals around their coop? I will have straw, hay and normal bedding underneath and then the beds ontop, is that okay for them?

    Ducklings Nibbling/Eating rubber shelf liner

Hi all, I have 5 Rouen ducklings, 11 days old. They are all active and eating/drinking normally, but as you know they nibble everything. I saw one today nibbling at the rubber shelf liner and I think it’s getting off tiny pieces. I’m going to remove that one type of liner bc I have others that...

    Ducklings afraid of Brinsea EcoGlow

Hi all, I have 5 Rouen ducklings, 10 days old. I bought a Brinsea EcoGlow and just put it in their brooder, and they fled in fear, chirping loudly. They seem very afraid of it. Has anyone had this experience? Hoping they get used to it and go under it. Thanks!

Brinsea EcoGlow Safe for Duckling Brooder?

Hi there, I have 5 Rouen ducklings, a little over a week old. I have been gradually adjusting the heat lamp to manage the temperature but read that between 7-14 days to switch to another heat source so the ducklings can get used to lower light. I found the Brinsea EcoGlow which came highly...

We were thrilled to welcome our first brood of 9 runners last weekend - and since then it’s been friggin holocaust. 😪 The first morning out of the duckhouse their mom decided to lead them far from our lovely pond to a neighbor’s pond for some reason. When I found them there were only six - of...

    Separating mom and babies?

Hi all, our Buff just hatched a 2 ducklings yesterday. Our city doesn’t allow more than 4 hens, and we have a family lined up to take them now that they’re hatched… I’m wondering when would be least stressful for the new babies? We hatched the parents (a runner and the buff) from eggs last year...

Hello fellow duck lovers! A few weeks ago, I was told to wait for the ducklings to be 7 weeks old to voice sex them. Two unrelated ducks co-nested, 9 of 15 eggs hatched!!

I thought this situation was strange, but I didn’t post about it because I thought nothing would come of it. Our Ancona female, Pepper, has attempted to hatch eggs two years in a row with a large clutch no live ducklings. Sooooooo, this year we have two new (year old) Silver Appleyard females...

    New Babies

I actually had the pleasure of my Cayuga to a Ancona. The original mate was lost to either a raccoon or fox, and I ventured into a different breed for the new mate. I came across Willow, my Ancona, and got her for Waldo, my Cayuga. I had a game hen hatch the babies for me, and they hatched this...

    Makeshift Duckling Food?

I have 5 four week old muscovy ducklings I'm currently raising. I fed them the last of their duckling crumbles today and didn't get a chance to run by the store to get more like I intended (a crisis came up in the chicken coop). So... I put together a quick batch of something to hold them over...
