Well would you look at that?!?! While we were removing 6 roosters from our original flock we found these! Our chicks are 16 weeks old and these are the first 2 eggs. One was on the ground and the other was in a nesting box.
These are small eggs, but it's early, so I was expecting them to be...
So i hatched quails yesterday, one hatched out perfect while the other needed help, when it was fully out i realized why it couldn’t go out by itself, it had issues with one of it’s legs and wings and was also pipping upside down (not aircell) unfortunately the little guy only lived for around a...
One of my hens had a freak accident this morning. She was found, hanging by her neck, in between the gate and the fence at about 8:30 am. Sunrise was at 6:30, so she couldn’t have been there any longer than about 2-3 hours. She wasn’t sick, had no known health problems, and it was wasn’t a...
Hello, hello!
I had 8 Brahma chicks come in this morning, they were born on Sunday or early Monday morning. After getting them all warmed up, all but one, has been eating, drinking, and exploring. Cersi was being very lethargic and just wanted to lay down. A few times it looked like she was...
I’ve already tried looking it up on google but can not find where it tells me if my chickens can eat ginseng fruit. So, I have come here to ask, Can chickens eat ginseng fruit?
Trying always to make stuff with eggs, of course, that's not just the same old same old thing... so this morning I made delicious donuts.
The orange Halloween sprinkles are pumpkin spice.
Hey all. I had a couple of chicks hatch yesterday, and they won't eat. I've been poking it, and putting a little on my finger and showing to them. They eat a little, then back away and/or run away. How do I teach them how to eat?

Any advice on how to differentiate a prominent keen from a quail who is too skinny? When I place my fingers on the chest of one of my quail I can feel their keen very clearly. I do not have to really search at all, and it is most noticeable when I hold them. How should I encourage them to eat...
So I felt the need to post this here. A little backstory, my 2 sisters are allergic to CHICKEN eggs but not duck eggs. They'd been ordering fresh duck eggs for about 2 years and receiving floaters sometimes and I had told them the trick of if it sinks is good, if sinks but stands underwater...
Been reading these forums forever now, finally signed up so I can ask few questions that I can’t find answers to!
Here’s my first question- under what circumstances, ailment, cause of death, reason to cull, would you consider the meat compromised and NOT eat the chicken?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I was wondering if grapes are safe for chickens to eat. Can they have the whole thing? Or do you need to take out the seeds? etc.
Thanks!

I just walked outside to find my 2 year old daughter feeding a stick of butter to my 9 week old chickens and indulging in some herself lol. Should I be worried at all? Is it safe for them? At most they probably ate half a stick between 6 birds
I just dusted my coop and some of my girls since they have some lice.
I was already collecting eggs prior for incubation and just realized that I have no idea if the eggs tomorrow will now be ideal after this treatment for incubating?
Thoughts? I used Gardstar poultry dust. I'm hoping I can...
As the tittle says, I have a few Cornish chicks that do whatever they can to scratch away the paper towel and dig and eat the pine shavings underneath.... Not sure how to persuade them to stop. :( unless I just cut it out or replace with hay maybe?
Hi all,
I'm not sure why my chicks do this: They are three weeks old and they "love" to try new food. Today I gave them a little piece of banana and they came and tried it. Then, they wiped their little beaks in the wood chips and came back to eat more. Every once in a while they would wipe...
I found these at Tractor Supply.. Are they safe/healthy for ducks? The bag says so, but I just want to make sure this isn't something junky for them that they are better off not eating..

Our little chicken has never had great balance, but I thought I should add it. He cannot open his eyes, aside from a little part. He drinks when I put water up to his beak, he tries to eat, but he can't quite see it. Preening like he's comfortable, a little fluffed out (less fluffed now that I...
