tonight I go to shut up my chickens and see this little beauty in the corner of the roosting box! Time for those nest boxes I guess... Based on Maturity and color I’m betting on my Mrs Marans! The larger one is from one of the Pullets the farm bought last summer for size and color comparison. So...
My birthday was 2/26. One of my sapphire gems had been making these honking noises looking very impatient days before running around so I looked into that and found out it could take a week for her to lay after she starts making those noises so I wasn’t expecting Her to lay one so soon but I put...
Yesterday I found my very FIRST Guinea Egg, then today when the neighbors hiked down to my house and I was showing them the Chicken house and boxes - another Guinea egg. There is some sneaky girl either Angel or Shelly laying! What do I do if the eggs froze can I still use them to bake or...

Hi Friends!
Just looked into the duck-house and found our first egg.
No idea who laid it, my primary suspect is Katharina because she's the largest duck, Curiosity and NoName are smaller. One healthy egg, perfect size, a little larger than a chicken egg from the store:
Now we're talking...
So yesterday I received 2 lovely but small quails eggs for the first time! So far today, I still haven't received any. Is it normal for Japanese quails to miss a day after their first egg? If so, is it just one day or can it last a while? Thanks :)
So I was feeding my 7 week old quail(Generation 2 from hatchery) and letting them daily outside to run around when there was this brown speckled egg, smack dab in their food bowl.
It was beautiful.
First timer here! Our pullets (1 RIR, 1BA, 1GLW, 1SS, 1BR) are 22-23 weeks and we just got our first egg this morning from the black australorp!
We're so excited - had to share.
Any predictions on who will follow and how long we'll have to wait?
The suspense is killing me!!!
Our two "teenagers" Sandy and Goldie are gearing up! (Buff Orpingtons)
One of them surprised me yesterday, laid it right in the nest box and everything!! Super egg-citing!! :love :ya
Just about 6 months to the day (our chickies were hatched April 1-5th) He has been out there every day taking care of his girls. He built the coop from the ground up. And even sits out there every day, inside their yard. Talking to them, petting them, and letting them know they are loved. His...
This morning, found this egg when I let the chickens out of the coop! So exciting! Happy to know we got our chicks to this nice productive stage, especially since these are our first-ever chickens!
Hello! My 22 week old buff orpington Sunny D laid her first egg today! My Danish brown leghorn Sprinkles (23 weeks old) has been practicing the art of the squat for days and still no egg.
Aside from layer feed is there anything I should supplement their diets with?
Hi there! I’m in my first year of owning three awesome Golden Comets, Rose, Coop and R2-D2.(can you tell we let the kids name them? Haha.) We got them the weekend after Easter, and they’re all the same age, but I’m a bit confused.
I’ve recently noticed that Rose has a nice sized red comb...
My hens were being super loud this morning (free range) so I went outside and one of the girls basically jumped in my lap and liked being held, which is unusual for her. She kept being very loud and followed me to the coop .She climbed the latter to the nedting box and I saw an egg! Small but...
My Hen Morty laid her first egg. I've never raised chickens so this was all new to me! Before she laid her egg, I notice she was more chattier than usual. She would pace around trying to find a nook to lay her egg. She laid her first egg on top of this small storage cube I keep outside. Luckily...
What a wonderful surprise we found this morning… After hearing what Brie and I could have sworn was the sound of a cockerel chick attempting his first crow, we went running over to Nellie’s cage to see if she was alright! We knew there were no roosters in the house, so could not figure out what...
I have 6 girls, one year old Americauna that lays one egg daily and 5 golden sex links that are 6 or 7 months old and the same size as my matriarch Americauna. None of the 5 links have laid an egg yet.. any tips on getting them to start?
