These two little guys were hatched from a variety of bantam from a livestock market! Does anyone know what breed and gender they are I’m thinking rooster but hopefully I’m wrong 😂
Hi everyone,
I’ve searched for the answer high and low but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.
On average, how long does it take for a flock of hens to accept a rooster? I know for chickens meeting chickens it can take 2 or so weeks. But is introducing a male any different? I’m assuming...
Hi! I have 2 roosters available from my personal free range flock that I unfortunately need to find new homes for. They are such sweet and gentle boys that the others (even the hens) are picking on them too much. 😢 The first is a gorgeous New Hampshire Red cockerel (6 months) and the second is a...
My chick is 7 weeks old. Started making this strangled squawk yesterday. I thought chickens didn’t crow until 4-5 months? Is this my absolute confirmation this is a rooster? (I’ve suspected this one since they were 2 weeks old, but these are my first chicks, so didn’t want to jump to...
Hey everyone! New chicken mom here starting with our flock of 8.
We just found out one of our Rhode Island Reds is a cockerel and I suspect another one is too. We got all 8 at Tractor Supply — 6 were sold as pullets and we took a gamble on what we THOUGHT were two straight run silver laced...
Hey all!
So this is my first year owning a rooster, and I know I have a ways off before I’ll start seeing any baby chicks around, however I would love if someone could explain the process?
So my silly question is, when a roo mates with a hen, does the hen lay all fertilized eggs at once? Or 1...
I have a GL Wyandotte in question. She has always been bigger than her other Gold Laced sisters and developed feathers and wattles/comb quicker than the others.
I know that this is usually a sure sign of a roo, but I've also seen a couple on here that turned out to be hens. I noticed this...
Hello! I can either just take some roos off your hands or swap some chicks for hens. Purebred only please! I’m in Southern California. Please comment below with photos if you have any roos or hens you’d like to swap/find homes for, thanks! :)
Hello! I’m looking for white or black bearded silkies over a year old. I’m in Los Angeles, CA but can drive a little while for some good silkies. If you have any that you’d like to sell please let me know in the comments, thank you! :)
if you have hens or Roos that need free rehoming around the Southern California/ Los Angeles area, comment their breed and pics below and I will contact you to pick them up, thanks!
What do you think? Some pics of the chicken alone and with the others from eggs hatched at the same time.
I think it’s possibly a cream legbar crossed with an Easter egger.
hi again,
So after my small flock I had for a few years was wiped out last year by a bobcat, I purchased 12 chickens (and some ducks) this season and one of the girls has turned out to be a roo. So I have some questions about feeding.
I use to give my old hens Dumor 16% layer pellet all year...
I’m a new chicken owner and I’m curious if my barred rock is really a roo! It’s comb seems really red for being around 7 weeks old! The comb looks a little more red in person then in the pictures. Also the most dominate of the group.
#1 EE or cinnamon queen is what they told us seems to have some reddish on its comb and wattles are turning red as well.
#2 RIR has a larger comb (thats turning reddish at the base) than #3 who is also a RIR
Could this be an early sign of them being Roos?
New chicken owner. I got these from the Easter egger bin at Rural King. They are at least 8 weeks old. Do you think they are really Easter eggers? Do you think pullet or roo? Thank you!
Gender guesses for this sweet baby? It’s the first and only chick I’ve ever hatched! Thrilled baby is 6 weeks old and doing great.
Any guesses on cockerel or pullet?
I had no problem determining my polish genders.. the silkies were very hard. Now that this cross is completely new to me, I...
Do I have 2 black Australorp pullets? They look very different if they are the same breed. The one with a long tail is much louder, but hasn't acted "in charge". There's nothing that indicates the other one is getting pecked to cause her to lose her tail. They are probably around 5-6 weeks...
Hi! I’m pretty sure this is a roo because of the comb size and colors compared to my other girls but I wanted to ask for a second opinion. Any thoughts? This is my first batch of turkens. Also long shot but any ideas with the silkie? *the cage is temporary, currently deep cleaning the brooder*
