One of my girls got a minor cut on her foot in the end of February, it became slightly inflamed but no black. I treated it with polysporin, preparation H and a neoprene duck shoe changed before bed every night for 3 weeks. Pretty much all of the swelling went down and and the scab was super tiny...
This is the first time I have seen this in my flock. My roosters beak is dry and has this scab on it. None of the others in his flock have it. It does not appear to bother him. He has minimal dry skin and feather loss on his neck, too. Any ideas what it could be and how should I treat it?
Thanks!
Anyone please help me figure out what this is (see pics below)? I'm sure it's not uncommon, but it's hard to steer the search results away from more common conditions. I had removed this kind of "scab" from this rooster when he was 3 mo, and I thought it was just some skin inflammation as result...
When my hen started developing little scabs on her comb, I had read that it comes with the cold months. Like a reaction to the high temperature. The thing is that I live in Miami Florida, so there aren’t high temperatures here during winter. There’s only been two nights/mornings of cold weather...
Hey yall so I noticed yesterday my 7-8 month old light brahma was limping pretty bad. I have a duck currently dealing with bumblefoot so I immediately inspected her foot.....and found nothing other than a broken off feather on her toe. It really doesn't look that bad, but I have no idea what...
Hello. I found this large, raised scab thing on my chicken's neck, to the left of the crop that goes near the wing and breast. It is about 2"x1" big. Her feathers pulled out super easy from it and you can see where they once were (little holes in the scab). She is not sensitive to me touching...
I have a roo with what looks like bumblefoot. His foot is huge. I got the black scab off and makes a incision. Only thing that comes out so blood. I used tweezers and still can’t find anything. Is it just really huge I need a deeper cut? Is it not bumblefoot? Am I just not doing it right? It’s...
Our naked neck has had a scab on his neck for a while and it recently started spreading very rapidly and we are not sure what it is or if it’s hurting him. He had fowl pox about a year ago thank you for any help! but the scab eventually cleared up and fell off, but this seems to be in the same spot
One of my silkies has a scab on her butt. It seams to lead inside her cloaca so when she dose an egg it bleeds a tiny bit. She seams fine in her self otherwise and is still laying and has been for 9 months. Ive considered using a poultry wound spray but as the injury is in a sensitive area im...
I’m dealing with our first prolapse and we’re on day 3. She still seems fine except for the prolapse (perky, wanting food, etc). I’ve been doing all the stuff: soak. Epsom. Sugar. Hydrocortisone. Vetricyn. It will stay in a bit longer now, but it still pops out when she poops. It was initially...
I know there is probably hundreds of post similar to this but I’m still going to ask. Basically my smallest hen has a couple cuts on her back from what I believe to be other chickens pecking at her. How should I treat the cuts and how do I stop this from happening again?
I noticed the scab thing on this chicks nose when she was a month younger, I thought that it was a speck of dirt or something and tried to brush it off, now it's bigger and she sounds different from her siblings. She's fine otherwise just sounds a bit more squeaky than the others
Edited to fix...
Hello! I have a 1yr old red sex-link hen, and since Saturday one of her wattles has been very swollen. She also seems to have a small bump on one of her eyebrows. I’ve tried searching online to find the cause but didn’t find anything that matched exactly.
The swollen part of her wattle feels...
Hey guys i need your help! My chick has been losing feathers for a couple weeks and has some gnarly scabs on her neck. We thought she was getting pecked so we moved her into her own separate place with the same things the other chickens had (food, water, heat, etc.). We also took her to ranch &...
Greetings all,
I'm a first time owner of 5 bright little chicks (from MPC) and noticed this morning that my speckled sussex chick has been picking at the base of her leg. For reference, I use pine shavings as bedding and keep them in a 55 gal trough that I deeply disinfected. She's eating and...
Hi everybody!
I'm wondering if my 2 week old olive egger chick is ever going to grow feathers on her back where there was a large injury when she hatched?
Here's the story;
I gave my broody brahma a few eggs to sit on a few weeks ago. They hatched but mom decided she only enjoyed sitting on...
So basically, today I picked up my duck and noticed there was a yellow moving larva which I’m assuming was a maggot since there were a lot of flies on my back porch. She has a scab on her under side and I was wondering what I should do to treat it if anything. I didn’t see any other bugs or...
One of my hens have some swelling between her toes, everything seems to point to bumblefoot. Checked the underside and she has some brown/black patches. However, she seems completely unbothered by her foot, walks and runs and roosts without discomfort, and is eating and drinking normally. I gave...
I bought this chick at TSC on Saturday along with 6 others.
All the others are fine; eating, drinking, pooping, exploring.
This one became listless this morning and I noticed soft stool stuck to her bum.
I cleaned her but had to go to work.
When I got home she was extremely lethargic and...
