~«Survival By War»~ (Warrior cat rp)

Mousepaw lay curled in her nest, watching the dark flank of Ravenpaw rise and fall slowly. She couldn't sleep, her dreams addled with images of Hazelpaw and her parents, of Hazelpaw falling into the same fate as Bluemist, rabid and raging, until finally put out of her misery by Sunstar himself. And strangely enough, flashes of a dark-pelted, blue eyed tom. She knew exactly who he was, not his name, but where he came from: he was that apprentice she had seen on the PineClan border.
She wondered, absentmindedly, what he was doing right now. She rolled on her back, paws tucked into her chest. Was he asleep? Or laying awake, like her, thinking of events of the day, or of strange dreams? Or maybe even late-night hunting, wasn't that PineClan's specialty?
Her chest rose and fell with a long sigh, her amber eyes flickering shut. Where was Hazelpaw? Was she even alive still? Or had she been murdered? Possibly drowned or fell from a cliff or tree? Had one of the other journeying apprentices turned on the rest and killed her? What if she had gotten bitten by a animal and turned rabid like Bluemist? Or killed like Finchfang?
Mousepaw let out a soft groan, eyes snapping open. Why did her mind have to conjure the worst images and thoughts?
Slowly, she rolled onto her side. She could hear the muffled voices outside, two toms talking...who? Wingpaw, possibly, he was missing from the den. But who else? Who would Wingpaw want to talk to at this time of night? She flinched suddenly, a soft squeak coming from Ravenpaw, the she-cat's hind leg lashing out of her nest, spraying the surrounding floor with shreds of moss.
She watched the sleeping apprentice closely, her eyes nothing more the small slits of black and amber. Ravenpaw often had nightmares, and Mousepaw knew that, but tonight the other she-cat seemed off, her breathing quick and shallow, soft squeaks coming from her, her paws lashing out. Slowly, Mousepaw stood and crept over to Ravenpaw, and tentatively lifted a paw, shaking the black she-cat's shoulder gently.

Ravenpaw leapt from Sunstar's den, eyes narrowed in thought. So Canopypaw could see dead cat's, and Wingpaw was going to be training in the Dark Forest. She hated the small pit of jealousy that grew inside her, for StarClan's sake, she shouldn't be jealous, she told herself. What Wingpaw was doing was highly dangerous, and he could be killed from the sound of it.
She trotted quickly into the ferns that surrounded the apprentices den, and slipped inside. Firepaw was there, strewn out over her nest like she always was. And so was Mousepaw, curled up tightly with her tail over her nose, but if the she-cat was sleeping or not, was a mystery to Ravenpaw. The dusty brown tabby often pretended to be asleep, and then would sneak out of the den late at night, but Ravenpaw never had any intention of following her. She knew that the she-cat hadn't been the same since her sister had left the Clan's territory on a mission from StarClan.
Of course that would change a cat; Mousepaw only had Hazelpaw, considering both their parents were dead, one having gone mad with rabies and executed in front of their eyes. Did I change after Fernshade died? Ravenpaw wondered. She had been to young to remember how she had reacted when her birth-mother had died. She remembered her faintly, though. The sweet scent of milk and the nursery, the warm blue eyes, and soft midnight black pelt, and her soothing, low voice.
But had she changed at all, was something Ravenpaw wouldn't know. Sighing, she crawled into her nest, the moss cool from a day without anycat in it. She settled down, closing her eyes and drawing her tail over her nose, mulling over what she had been told in Sunstar's den all the while.
When she woke, she was in a very strange place. She couldn't see the ground through the thick mist that surrounded her legs, but could feel the muddy leaf-litter underpaw. It was dark, very, very dark, the sky only lit by the quarter moon. The trees were shadowy and tall, reminding Ravenpaw of the shadow-cats the Elder's used to tell her about. The trees were leafless, not a hint of life in the eerie forest, except for the blue and green glowing fungi growing on the dead trees.
Ravenpaw shivered, taking a step forward. How had she gotten here? And...where was here? What was this place.
"Hey! You!" Ravenpaw spun around, coming face to face with a silver she-cat not much younger then her.
"W-who are you?" Ravenpaw managed, taking a slow step back, and squeaking when she hit mud.
"Uh, Silverkit." The she-cat replied nonchalantly.
"Silver...kit? You look really old to be a kit still. Are you a StarClan cat?" Ravenpaw asked tentatively.
"Uh, nope! I'm a WaterfallClan cat, very much alive. And, my leader just had kits, hasn't had time to give me my apprentice name yet. This place is weird, huh? I can't find Two-Face or Strikestar or Snakepaw anywhere, though. I wonder where they got to. Oh, I bet he's laying awake, excited about our training session tomorrow!" Silverkit squealed, bouncing slightly on her tip-toes.
Ravenpaw froze, her hackles rising. "Did...did you just say Two-Face?" She whispered, her voice hoarse and trembling.
"Yeah, she's our mentor type thing here. Creepy lookin' she-cat, I tell ya. Chest looks like it's been carved out, I bet I could jump inside it if I was smaller." Silverkit said this in a very chill voice, as if it were very normal.
"Hello, dearies," Ravenpaw and Silverkit spun around, to see a gray-pelted she-cat with leaf green eyes, white belly and paws, slinking towards them.
"Hi, Moon!" Silverkit meowed, "have you seen Two-Face? Or Snakepaw?"
'Moon' rolled her eyes, as if annoyed, "by the Dark River," she said harshly. Silverkit squealed, turning to go run.
Ravenpaw, terrified of the gray she-cat, turned to run after Silverkit, but a paw hooked behind her leg, dragging her backward.
"No," Moon spat in her ear, "you stay right where you are. I have a proposition for you, apprentice."
Ravenpaw scrambled to her feet, turning to face the gray she-cat, legs trembling, "w-what do you mean?"
"I want to train you. You're a special young she-cat, and I think with a little of my training, and of course Two-Face and Strikestar's, you could be a very powerful asset." Moon sat down, grooming her paws.
Ravenpaw swallowed hard. So these were Dark Forest cat's. Yet, she noticed, Moon was fully solid, not see-through. Weren't Dark Forest and StarClan cat's see-through? "A-asset for what?" She whimpered.
"The Clan's, of course." Moon stated.
"Ravenpaw? Ravenpaw, wake up..."
Ravenpaw jerked awake sharply, met with the startling gaze of Mousepaw.
"Hey, you alright?" Mousepaw tilted her fluffy face, amber eyes glowing with worry in the dim moonlight, "you were crying out in your sleep."
Ravenpaw pulled herself into a sitting position, her legs and body trembling, "Shh, don't wake Shadepaw," she murmured, "I'm fine, bad dream, that's all. Did I wake you?"
"He's probably already awake from you crying out. No...no...I was already awake, Wingpaw's outside with somecat talking, Whitepaw's hunting with Emberfeather, and Firepaw's patrolling with Frozenblood, and with them going in and out I couldn't sleep." Mousepaw murmured.
"He's with Sunstar," Ravenpaw meowed, hearing the conversation clearly, "they're talking about Silverwing, Canopypaw and something about medicine cats."
"How...how did you hear that?" Mousepaw stuck her head out of the den momentarily, before slipping back in, "they're all the way on the otherside of the clearing, I only knew it was Wingpaw because I recognize his voice easily."
"Erm...?" Ravenpaw couldn't figure out why she could hear it so easily, her mind still taken over by fright of the she-cat in her dream, "sharp hearing, I suppose."
"Really sharp hearing." Mousepaw murmured.
"Go back to sleep, Mousepaw. We better not wake Shadepaw, or he'll have our ears."

Leopardmoon started to let back up on her attacks, feeling bad for attacking him at all "I just wish Rainstar hadn't taken it this far..." she mumbled, fury unmasking itself at the leader's name. She didn't want to be clawing at Snarl, if any cat deserved their ears sliced it was Rainstar.
Snarl gave her the sharpest look he could through the blurring trickle of freed scarlet. "Do I look thoroughly battered to you?" He knew he wasn't going to increase her guilt by continuing the conversation about her misguided leader, so challenging her fulfilled duty as his superior opponent was next best.

Nightbird crouched in the mouth of the tunnel, ears pricked forward. Her eyes locked a cat at the edge of the fray, who was readying themselves to pounce at an apprentice. She lunged at them, bringing her weigh hard down on their side.
Mink's heart plummeted violently as she was thrown away from the trio of visibly untrained young toms. She thought she'd picked an easy fight with them; opponents that even a simple prey-hunter like she shouldn't have had an issue defeating and scattering... but she surely wasn't capable to fight one of the Clans' fatally versatile warriors.
She squirmed fiercely beneath the weight of her attacker, but, Mink was all too well aware that, for now, she was pinned firmly. Her clawed rear paws spun in crazed arches, catching on the other cat's hindquarters occasionally.

Nightbird's thick pelt protected her from most of the prey-hunter's unbalanced blows, which just brushed through her fur. Some, though, caught on her skin and ripped painfully. Her ears back, Nightbird hissed and clawed at the tribe cat's shoulders.

"Silverwing. You can't let her train Canopypaw!" Wingpaw looked pleadingly at his leader, ears flattened. "She told Canopypaw that she wasn't fit to be a medicine cat, that Canopypaw was foolish, that Canopypaw dwelled to much on StarClan. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't interpreting StarClan's Prophecy's part of a medicine cat's job?" He paused, drawing in a long breath, "she's being very cruel to Canopypaw, and after what happened with Cloudfur...well, I just want her to be actually happy with what she's doing, not stuck with a evil old Foxheart for a mentor. I know it's so stupid to come to you for, I know you have bigger things on your mind, but please...just consider talking to Silverwing about her behavior. For Canopypaw's sake."

Sunstar felt his tail start to lash angrily behind him and his eyes narrow at Wingpaw's words, Couldn't any cat just train Canopypaw with no troubles? He thought bitterly before he took a deep breath to calmly reply "I will have to discuss this with both Silverwing and Canopypaw, thanks for bringing it forward." His meow was tired as he rested his tail on Wingpaw's shoulder in a sign of gratitude before he dipped his head at the apprentice and walked away, he would wait till Canopypaw was back before he would tackle this problem.

Rainstar had been about to close her jaws around the exposed flesh of the Seer's throat, when suddenly a force slammed into her, a cat much larger and stronger then her knocking her off of the fiery she-cat and tackling her to the ground. A shriek of fury rose in her throat, and she lunged forward, snapping her jaws closed on whatever bit of flesh she could. From the feel of the muscle beneath her teeth, it was his foreleg. "Wormcat!" She spat, wriggling away from him, hackles flaring. "What are you going to do, hm? Kill me? Chase me off? Oh, I'm just absolutely shaking in fear."

Bear snarled with the rage of his namesake, his glaring eyes burning into the she-cat as he shifted his foreleg in pain at her vicious bite but it was the last of his worries as Bear spoke in a deep threatening tone "I want you to run back to your disgusting territory, I want your clan mates to watch as their coward of a leader retreats because you couldn't hope to win against the Tribe." He sneered at her as he took a step forward, looming over Rainstar in a way that dared her to try and attack him again now that his bristling brown fur made him look twice her size.

Leopardmoon winced a bit as she looked him over with a quick sweep of her eyes "Yeah, you look pretty beaten up." She noted as blood dripped from many scratches she had landed on him.

"Thank you, Sunstar." Wingpaw's voice was barely a murmur as he turned, padding back to the apprentice's den. As he slid into the den, he was met by the startled green and amber gazes of Ravenpaw and Mousepaw. "What're you two doing?"
"Talking."
"It's Moonhigh, Ravenpaw."
"Why were you talking to Sunstar just now?" Ravenpaw's voice was silky smooth, her eyes glittering.
"How in StarClan's beloved name did you hear us?" Wingpaw growled, "did you two follow me?"
"No, mouse-brain, we saw you. Why were you talking to him?"
"Come off it, Ravenpaw. Get some sleep, you'll wake Shadepaw up with all this chattering." Wingpaw noted the absense of his siblings as he dragged himself into the nest beside Shadepaw, and dropped into it, but it didn't even seem to register in his brain as he quickly drifted to sleep.

A grin crossed Rainstar's face, her pale eyes glittering. "Is that so?" She crooned, meeting his gaze steadily. "Let me tell you a little something, Worm Kitty, I don't do retreating." She rose to her full height, looking almost bored, and turned, pausing at the edge of the Seer's Rock, "you bore me with your inane threats, Worm Kitty. I'm going to go find a opponent worth fighting." She glanced around the clearing, "a queen, maybe." And she leapt from the Seer's Rock, vanishing in the mass of cats.

(I'm 90% sure this Shadepaw is just Shadetalon whose in the warriors den now so this is kinda amusing to me XD)

Bear growled in fury as he leaped after Rainstar, his gut twisted at her words. He didn't know what a queen was for clan cats but his instinct told him to stop her before he found out. "Fight me Frog Breath! The only reason you won't is because you're a weak coward!" He yowled after her, trying to reach her but was yanked away mid pounce by a Pineclan cat grabbing him by the scruff. Bear quickly wiped around to face this attacker, hoping to beat them soon so he could go back to chasing Rainstar.

(Noo. There are two, Shadepaw and Shadetalon. Both yours XD)

Rainstar's cackle of laughter could be heard on the far side of the cave, her eyes glinting wickedly. She scented milk and kits from one den, and slowly slunk inside, silent as a mouse. There! She saw Eyescar battling a Tribe tom, a she-cat curled behind him, small shapes nestled at her belly. Perfect. What better way to destroy the Tribe then to kill one of their future warriors?
She skirted around the Tribe cat and Eyescar as a shadow, and slunk up to the queen, looming over her. "Hello, Worm Kitty."

Wish had herself curled around her kits protectively as she watched their father battle a clan cat, she was so exhausted from kitting that all she could do was stare in worry. She about jumped a fox length when a cat spoke with pure malice in her ear and the new Kit-Mother whipped her head around to glare fiercely at Rainstar, the Pineclan leader. "Leave us alone clan cat, I won't let you come near my kits!" She snared as she rose to her paws, trembling a bit at the effort as she stood with her back arched in front of her mewling helpless kits.

"I'm so scared." Rainstar rolled her eyes, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Your beloved hero is of fighting, and here you are, a weak little she-cat and her kits...all at my mercy." She purred, and lunged forward, slamming Wish to the ground mercilessly. "Which to kill first? You or the kits...you or the kits..." She mused calmly, eyes narrowed.
