~«Survival By War»~ (Warrior cat rp)

"Silverkit, Brightkit and Wolfkit will be made apprentices any day now. So I suppose it doesn't help all to much." Nettlepaw muttered, avoiding her gaze again. She became extremely interested in the pebbles underneath her paws, absentmindedly rolling them beneath her forepaw. "Sagepaw and Crow—....Crowpaw will be made warriors soon enough, though."
"Crowpaw," Ashstripe echoed lightly and stepped forward to nuzzle Nettlepaw's cheek as the first act of emphatic connection she'd offered in a bit. "He'll be back soon."

Dustypaw nudged Gingersplash "Enough about my grumpy brother! There's better things to focus on today!" He chirped cheerfully

~

Snakepaw tilted his head, staring at the moth in Silverkit's jaws "It's a fine catch for a kit and your pounce to get it was good but it does look silly to me." He said light-hearted, not wanting to scold her for playing with a moth.

~

Lostpaw smiled and held his paw to Brokenwing, a shiny minnow scale sticking to the wet tufts of fur in between his paw pads "Here, a new scale for your new nest in the warrior's den, minnows may not be worth eating but their scales are nice." He then looked back towards nearby camp entrance "Any good fish seem to be avoiding us now, I wouldn't be surprised if our clan mates up there were snatching them before we can."
Gingersplash turned back to him with a grin. "You're right. Snakepaw isn't exactly the best conversation topic when you have better things to talk about!"

~

Silverkit pouted and dropped the moth. "I'm not a kit anymore!" She replied indignantly, batting the moth between her forepaw's, but still fixing her unnerving orange gaze on him. "I'm practically bigger then Sagepaw!"

~

"Thank you, Lostpaw." Brokenwing murmured softly, taking it delicately between her teeth. "I suppose you're right," she mumbled around the scale, careful not to break it. "We should head back up."

"Crowpaw," Ashstripe echoed lightly and stepped forward to nuzzle Nettlepaw's cheek as the first act of emphatic connection she'd offered in a bit. "He'll be back soon."
Nettlepaw tensed at the sudden touch, slowly lifting her gaze to look at Ashstripe. "You think so?" She tried to keep the hopefulness from her toe, but it snaked it's way in regardless. "I really, really hope you're right."

"A thing I'm curious about is what are you going to do now that you're a warrior? What do you think your vigil will be like?" Dustypaw asked, his amber eyes shining in interest.

~

Snakepaw chuckled "That's not very impressive, Sagepaw is tiny." He noted before he glanced up towards Willowstar, who was chatting tiredly with other warriors "I talked to Willowstar earlier, you are to be apprenticed in two days." He tried to say it off handedly but he could feel Silverkit's eyes widen and her excitement at his words.

~

Lostpaw nodded his agreement "Yes, that's probably a good idea. Our clan mates are probably wondering where you went off to." He picked up the trout he caught and the small fish Brokenwing had grabbed. He looked back at the salmon, they might have to come back for such an amazing catch.

Gingersplash tilted her head in thought. "Well, I don't know what I'll do now that I'm a warrior. For the vigil, I begged one of the warriors one time to tell me what it was like. Boring, they said. But at the same time exciting, because you know StarClan is watching you."

~

Silverkit dismissed his other words quickly, and stopped batting at the moth suddenly. "Really!?" She gasped, eyes widening into huge orange moons. "Thank you, Snakepaw! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

~

Brokenwing frowned. She wanted to take the salmon back, but she knew if she did, she wouldn't be able to do it alone, and would break the scale. "We'll come back for it."

Nettlepaw tensed at the sudden touch, slowly lifting her gaze to look at Ashstripe. "You think so?" She tried to keep the hopefulness from her toe, but it snaked it's way in regardless. "I really, really hope you're right."
Ashstripe discreetly glared at her apprentice's irritatingly hopeful toe and huffed out a soft breath. "Of course. He's got..." Ashstripe faltered as she realized her idea for following words wouldn't be the wisest guidance and had to correct them quickly. I've just suffered mightily because of love. I can't just go and blatantly encourage my dear apprentice to go through it all for herself. "..a future to return for."

"What if he's happier out there, though?" Nettlepaw pulled away from her mentor to look out of the den, where she could see glimpses of pelts dashing around. "Where he's free. Here," she jerkily beckoned her tail around the den. "He's reminded of...everything." She murmured, her gaze finding it's way back to Ashstripe's. "What if he doesn't want to come back?"

"Remember, after loss, his sister left for that same reason." Ashstripe got up again, to move forward so that she was sitting right beside Nettlepaw, completely regardless of who could see them now. "And look at Sagepaw now. She's home. And what for? The relentless love of those who called her heart back home."

"And just because she came back means Crowpaw will?" Nettlepaw gave a disbelieving huff. "Crowpaw isn't the same as Sagepaw. They're siblings, sure, but they are completely opposite. She learns to accept things. Crowpaw?" She laughed, but it was bitterly dry and humorless. "Crowpaw doesn't."
"Hey, is that Ashstripe?" She heard a voice call, sounding distinctly like Sagepaw.
"Oh, StarClan! I think it is!"
Nettlepaw then sank onto her belly, forcefully slapping her paws over her ears. "No."

"Hey, you can't deny that I look the part of sick," Ashstripe commented wryly out of the corner of her mouth before she returned her attention to her jubilant beholders. "You going to tell them that they shouldn't get too close or is that up to me and this lovely voice?"
