«We Could Be Legends»

Toby groaned and sat up. He looked around, trying to figure out where he was. Last thing he remembered was being outside the Pure base. "Where are we?" He mumbled. He pet Alpha, who seemed very happy Toby was now awake.
"The Multitude base," Indigo said. "We're gonna get that lead out of you."

"Th-the bullet isn't in me anymore. Mrs. Hero pulled it out." Toby mumbled. He shivered, and held tightly on to Alpha.
"Oh, right," Indigo said. "You need that sealed good. Can you walk? We need to get you inside."

The man-- Who's name tag said 'Thomas', kept his gaze on the wyvern-lady, completely ignoring the other three. "Hmm, perhaps. River? Not really, I was told about her from a old friend." Tom shrugged, lazily glancing at the others. They weren't exactly threatening. He looked back to the wyvern-person. "The Pure ain't anybody you want to mess with. They're dangerous. But uh... You mentioned a cat-lady? I've heard of her before."
We know they're dangerous, they Kidnapped our friends! Jessi thought. "What do you know of the cat-lady?" She asked the man.
Alice thrummed her fingers against the counter, watching the shopkeeper through guardedly slit eyes.
Unlike the others, she had no problem with announcing her distrust through her body language while simultaneously evaluating his. She hadn't detected too many actions key in betraying a lie, but that didn't mean she neglected to find him suspicious.
For one, just what he'd rambled to them so far was setting off a few bells in her head. He knows Aunt River and that Maple character?
He's heard of them? Who is he? Brisa wondered, turning her gaze back to the man-Thomas. As much as she feared Wolfram, she had felt the fear, sadness, and confused anger emanating from him and had seen the lost look in his eyes, and she wanted to help him. Which meant that she had to learn more about Mapleshade. Which was mortifying enough before she had started to learn more about her. And how the heck would he know about Aunt River?
(Just wondering, but is Brisa's thermal heat and X-ray vision gonna help, or should she deactivate it? It gives her headaches if she uses it for too long.)
Tom shrugged again, as if it was his favorite action. "Not much. She's a member of the Pure, all she wants is a key, she'll kill anyone in her way. But anyway, you probably already knew that."

(She should deactivate it.)
Just as he stopped speaking, Tom flicked his eyes over the other teenagers, pausing over the short haired brunette and the red-head. The sort of looked like sisters, they had the same eyes and distrustful looks. They had different face shapes and hair though, but one could have taken over one ancestor and the other another. He glanced at the girl standing by the emo looking boy, his eyes pausing on her for a second, before turning to the other girl, then back to the wyvern-girl.
Blinking away her special vision, Brisa watched Thomas' eyes flit over the group. "What do you know about the key?" She quietly asked him.
"'The key'? You could be talkin' about any key, kid. Gotta be more specific." Tom said, flicking his eyes between Jessi and Brisa.

"Look," Camilla said, stalking forward and slamming the paper from the files with a code on it that she had nabbed from her sister down in front of him. "This has to be something."

Tom peered down at it, pausing for a moment. He shrugged, looking back up at the red head. "Someone probably just copied this down. This stuff, this code-- It doesn't mean anything."
Jessi pulled the twenty dollar bill out and showed it to him. "You sure it doesn't mean anything?" She asked. She kept the bill slightly out of his reach. "Tell us and this is yours."
Tom watched the money for a few seconds, before letting out a sudden, huffy laugh. "You really don't get, do you? I don't care about your money. This fight isn't your's, and if you get into it, you die. You're not supposed to be in this Pure junk, so stay out of it."
Jessi shrugged. "Fine. Come on guys, let's go. This old man isn't going to help us, so let's not waste our time." She said, and walked out the door. That was awkward. I thought that would work, normally in movies and shows people take the bribes. At least I still have my twenty dollars.
Tom gritted his teeth as he watched her turn her back on him, his eyes seeming to darken. "Wait." He said, his voice strained. He was going to regret this, he knew it. "You're just going to get into this some other way I suppose." He paused. "What all do you already know about the key?"

Grace stepped closer, watching Tom carefully. Since her companions had already spilled their guts to this guy, one more question wouldn't hurt. "We thought maybe you made the key. Why else would it mention you on those papers?"

Peter followed Grace's lead, getting closer to the counter. He looked around, his eyes settling on the girl with the yellow(?) dress. Weren't her eyes a different color a minute ago?

"I'm not going into the Multitude. I can stitch this up at home, and I will be fine." He protested.
Indigo tugged his arm and dragged him out, before realising everyone else was watching. "Nope, you aren't," she rung in again and a pretty blond woman with old fashioned nurse clothes came out.
"You need our help," she said with a warm Southern accent. "Come along, come along, let's getchu children out of the cold." She was also referring to the teenagers.

(In order to move this along, I'll be brief and assume everyone is in the car.)
Indigo locked the car doors with a click and turned the key in the transmission. The car, running solely on ethanol from recent technology upgrades in engines, eased into reverse and slid quietly down the road, gaining speed. She drove down roads slick with rain, and was surprised to see it was still light enough to not use headlights. It had seemed like she was in the cave for hours.
She turned down a road where the buildings looked older and in varying degrees of decay.
There, one large building stood out, though they did attempt to make it look older, the office building still gleamed on every window, shaded so you couldn't see inside.
She ran along the steps to into, cursing her informal attire, and rang in, whispering a password into the voice box.
Indigo Alan, muttered the man on the other side.
"Be right back," she said.
She ran back to her car and opened the doors.
"Welcome to the Multitude," she said with a brilliant smile. She whispered to Toby, waking him back up, bringing back all the pain.
A black and white bantam followed the lady out. His eyes latched onto Indigo, and he marched towards her. If a chicken can look angry, he did.
Frosty glared up at her. "We need to talk." He muttered, dragging one of his feet against the gravel road anxiously.

Toby stumbled out of the car and glared at Indigo. This place looks like it's going to kill me and sell my organs on the black market.
Maybe I should just listen to her. She's trying to help, after all. No, this is the person that can make anyone do what she wants without them knowing, the person who made you have not one,
two panic attacks in the two days you've seen her, and the person who just kidnapped you. I will not listen to her. He looked down at Alpha, who was whimpering and staring at Toby. Gah, don't look at me like that Alpha. You're gonna make me change my mind.

Jessi glanced at Brisa. The man didn't seem very talkative, and asking him questions didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Hm… maybe I could bribe him. I think I've got twenty dollars. Maybe that would get him to tell us all he knows about the Pure, Mapleshade, and the key.

Jessi turned around and walked towards the counter. "Not much. Only that the cat-lady wants it."
Grace stepped closer, watching Tom carefully. Since her companions had already spilled their guts to this guy, one more question wouldn't hurt. "We thought maybe you made the key. Why else would it mention you on those papers?"

Brisa watched the older man's reactions, and noticed the resigned look come over his face as he spoke. What on earth are we getting into? And WHAT exactly did he mean by, "If you get into it, you die?"! Her brain screamed at her as it processed that information. She paled a little, unable to keep her face as calm as she liked. No, he just wanted to scare us away. THAT'S ALL. She reasoned, taking a deep breath and regaining her composure.
