«We Could Be Legends»

"Lower your guns I said! Do not hurt my son." Michael shoved past one of the men, green eyes alight with anger.
"Son?" Wolfram hissed. "I thought I was a 'disgrace'? I thought I wasn't 'worthy of your blood'? I thought you hated me?" He snarled bitterly, stalking up to stand face to face with his father.
"You're still my son all the same, even if you are a failure. I don't want them hurting you."
"You didn't seem to care to much when we where in the Pure base! You sent all your men after us, and they fired shots and stabbed people! Due to that Bleddyn, Lachlan, Toby, almost everyone is injured! Why do you have such a problem with not hurting us now?" Wolfram threatened, gripping the knife in his hand tighter.
"Oh yes, Bleddyn. Your girlfriend, right? Horrendous creature she is. Nasty temper, not much of a lady is she? To be honest Lily was much better.
Wolfram snarled, eyes glittering with a deadly flash. "How come you think every girl I talk to is instantly my girlfriend?! And how dare you call Bleddyn horrendous! If you think you can just-"
"Shut up, Wolfy. Just, shut up. Your voice is giving me a headache, literally I have never heard something so annoying." Michael hissed. "Now, where is the Key?"
Wolfram shook his head. "I don't have it, I told you it's in my moms apartment."
"We already looked there, you moron! It's not there. Where is it, you disgraceful freak?"
"Not with that attitude. Also, it takes a freak to know a freak."
"Ah." For once Michael seemed impressed. "Strange. You've grown, haven't you? Normally you would just go running to your precious momma and cry."
"You have to be so cold to survive this world. I'm stronger then you think, dad." Wolfram spat the last word with disgust, yanking the sleeves of his shirts up on one arm, jerking it forward for his father to see the scars that littered the pale skin. "Aren't these enough to prove that I've grown up, that I'm stronger? If its not, that you have no clue what I went through. At all."
Michael's eyes flashed as they flickered over Wolfram's bare arm. With what though? Fear? Disgust? "Wolfram I-"
"It's to late for apologies!" Wolfram pulled his sleeves back down, hissing. "It's to late! You've already destroyed my life and made it a living hell! It all started with you, dad! You broke me! You destroyed me! You made me become the horrible, freak of a monster I am!"
"Wolfram listen-"
"No!" Wolfram shrieked, eyes blazing. "I'm not listening to one more word you say! It's over, you aren't getting the Key. And you know what, Michael?" He paused, his knuckles turning solid white around the knife. "You can take me, you can kidnap me again. I don't care. Do what you want. But I swear to God and everything holy that if you ever harm one of my friends—" He jerked his arm, indicating toward River, Misty, Toby, Taylor and Alice. "—again, I will make you suffer. You will pay. I will kill you, without a hint of regret in my soul. They are my friends, and I will willingly die for them, over and over again if that was possible."
Michael snorted, but slowly backed away. "I thought you said only cowards kill? I thought you weren't a coward?"
Wolfram turned his back, walking back to River, when Michael spoke. Wolfram glanced over his shoulder, eyes glittering. "People who kill just because of emotions are cowards. People who kill for a purpose, to protect, are heroes. There's a difference."

"Why did you kill my mother?" Wolfram growled, standing over Mapleshade who was getting to her feet.
"Oh, her. She was standing in the way of my path to greatness, and I simply had to kill her to get what I wanted. But unfortunately her son is much smarter then I thought he was." Mapleshade growled, tailed whipping to and fro.
Suddenly he felt hands gripping his shoulders, and they wouldn't let go when he tried to escape. He craned his head to see who was holding him. Of course, his father. Holding a gun to Wolfram's head. "Now I'm confused. You didn't want them to hurt me, but now you have a gun to my head?" Somehow he remained calm. Somehow he didn't let the turmoil of fear inside show. His heart was thudding a hundred miles a second, but he didn't show it.
"Give us the Key, Wolfram. I know you have it. And if you don't give it to us, I can always, I don't know, use Lily or Bleddyn as leverage."
Wolfram shrieked, struggling violently in his fathers unforgiving grasp. But when he felt the cold metal of the gun against his head, he fell still. "I swear if you hurt either one of them I will end you! They did nothing! Keep them out of this!" He snarled, rage replacing the fear instantly.
Mapleshade came up to him, chuckling softly. She stopped inches from him, streatching herself to her full height. She ran her claw-like nails down the marks on his cheek from earlier. "Listen, Wolfy. Just give us the key, and we won't hurt your precious friends." She murmured, voice silky smooth yet dripping with poison at the same time. "We wouldn't want your friend's getting hurt, now do we? That would certainly break you, wouldn't it? You would loose your last straw, wouldn't you? We can stop that, thought. Just give us the key." She murmured softly.
"Never." Wolfram rasped. "I'd rather die."

"Alright then. Kill him, Michael."
"No!" River couldn't help the soft yelp that escaped her lips, slithering through the air like a bullet, nor could she help freezing up as she glared at Mapleshade.
That monster had killed her brother, and now she wished to deprive her son of his friend? Get their attention off him. On you, something. Fast.
She stared at Mapleshade, her lips curled into a violent snarl, tail lashing, ears pushed forward, dark blue eyes slanted.
"You kill him, Freak--" She ripped her pistol from it's holster, pointing it at Mapleshade's head with an un-wavering aim. "--I put a bullet in Monster's head."

"Hey!" Toby yelled, pulling out his knife and launching at Michael. "Do not kill him! Let him go!" He slashed at Michael's arm, his eyes burning with rage.

"Kill him to." Mapleshade jerked her head towards two of the masked men who advanced on Toby.

Toby slowly backed away, adjustabing his grip on the knife. "So you send your men after me? Why don't you attack me yourself? Are you scared I'll hurt you?" He taunted, with a devious smile.

Alice stared at them distraught Wolfram had put himself between her and the guns. She looked up at the back of his head, wishing she could read his thoughts. But all she could see was that he was determined to make a stand against the Pure. Why were they here? Were they mad that she had left town? Or maybe the Pure wasn't as organized as they had assumed and these guys didn't know that she was supposed to be getting the key for them. A small bit confidence sparked in her, if they weren't organized enough to know that she knew where the key was, then maybe they weren't as big a group as they had thought. A hopeful smile turned up one corner of her mouth, quickly vanishing as Wolfram stepped away from her walking over to River, Alice awkwardly followed him, trying not to make herself noticed.

People who kill just because of emotions are cowards. People who kill for a purpose, to protect, are heroes. Alice re-said the words to herself in her head, her courage growing. The Michael guy shoved past her pressing the gun to Wolframs head, and suddenly the world seemed to stop. Her heart beat was the only thing that continued, and it was roaring in her ears. Then like a snapped rubber band everything started moving again, at an alarming speed. "Kill him?" She whispered. She wanted to do something, try something, but what if she did and that made the gun go off? Alice sucked in a breath, when was the last time she'd done that? Her chest and stomach were aching. She felt like she was going to either throw up or pass out. Maybe both.

"Just run, River. Please, please....just run." Wolfram's voice was choked up with a sob. "Let them kill me. At least you'll be safe. Please just leave...." He didn't even struggle in his fathers grasp, hanging limply like a doll.
"Brave move, Wolfram. Protecting your friends like that? But it's not that easy....I suppose I'd had to kill them to." Michael hissed in Wolfram's ear.
Wolfram let out a soft whimper, his heart pounding wildly. "River, please run!" He all but sobbed. "Just kill me already, get it over with..."
Wolfram suddenly jerked up, yanking the gun from his fathers hand.
He ripped from from his distraught fathers grasp, backing towards River, gun raised at his father and Mapleshade. "You should have known better then to mess with me!" He snarled, gun aimed at his father. "I'm stronger and smarter then you think, dad."
He glanced behind him at River, eyes glittering. Don't shoot. Not yet...please hold on. he pleaded silently, hoping she would catch the warning in his eyes.

Alice was surprised by the sudden change in power, indecision gripped her, should she follow Wolfram, cowering behind him? Or should she do the crazy thing and try to help like everyone else? Toby even had gotten out of the car putting himself in harms way to protect Wolfram.

People who kill for a purpose, to protect, are heroes. She didn't have anything to fight with, just her fists, but she had to do something, she couldn't just hide. Besides dying as a hero wouldn't be so bad. She thought, her small hopeful smile returning, as she leaped forward, tackling Mapleshade to the ground. (I don't know if Mapleshade has a weapon)

Brisa slowed at the sight of the guy who had killed the teacher. After watching him for a few seconds, she rode towards him and stopped a few feet away, hovering nervously. She didn’t know what the full capacity of his powers were and wasn’t sure if she could trust him, but she had to warn him. By killing a member of the Pure he had made himself a target. “Hi, I’m Brisa.” She started, clearing her throat. “Thanks for what you did back there. Um, I just wanted you to know that you’re probably in danger now and to be careful. The Pure, that organization that was mentioned, sees you as a threat now and will come after you if they figure out who killed that teacher. I can’t tell you much more, but be careful, okay?”

(BTW, this is my last post of today and maybe the next three days too, so don’t leave me too far behind please!)
Virio faced the girl that had slowly approached him, finding no malign intentions within her before he spoke. As she spoke, he grew to appreciate her, even in the small seconds she conversed. She was looking out for him, for some unknown reason, and that was touching for him, who normally went about problems alone. At the end of her words, Virio gave a nod of acknowledgement, responding "Thank you Brisa...I'm Virio, if you didn't know." He gave her a small smile as he added "There's so much stuff on this phone...I feel like I should share it with you, so we can at least know what is going on through all of this." He questioned simply "Do you want my number or something, or want to meet somewhere so you can take a look through the phone?"

Wolfram glanced around him, everything happening way to fast. Alice went for Mapleshade, and Taylor shoved her way through, doing what Taylor did best.
"Drop your guns!" Wolfram snarled to the Pure members. "Or you'll never get the Key. Drop your guns, now. Do not harm my friends."

Mapleshade snarled as Alice took her to the ground, with more strength then she thought the girl had. "Idiotic brat." She hissed. "It was a good thing we killed both of your useless parents. Now I'll kill you." She snarled, a hand sliding to her belt to grab her dagger.
But it was gone.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Do what he says, drop your guns." Michael hissed, nodding to Wolfram.
Wolfram's grip on the gun tightened, eyes flickering over to Toby. "Let Toby go." His finger hovered over the trigger, the gun pointed directly at his father. "I have you at gunpoint, I said let go of Toby!"
"Fine, let go of the useless boy. Why do you protect these people anyway? They're useless, really."
Suddenly Mapleshade jerked up to her feet, yanking Alice with her. Mapleshade's one eye blazed with a horrifying fury as she shoved the girl at Michael. "Kill her!" She spat, her voice harsh and raspy.
Michael glanced at Wolfram, then at Mapleshade. "Gladly. Now, Wolfram..." Michael snatched Alice up like treasure as Mapleshade shoved the teenage girl in his direction. "Shoot, and the girl instantly dies. Understand?"

Wolfram's eyes where as wide as moons, fear blossoming in his chest. "Alice!" To much had happened in such a short time, he didn't even see that Mapleshade had overpowered Alice.
"If you kill her you are a coward! There is no purpose of killing her! Remember what I said? 'People who kill because of emotions are coward. People who kill for a purpose, to protect, are heroes.' There is not purpose to kill her!" Wolfram's hand trembled as they gripped the gun even tighter.
"Alright, Alice..." Michael growled, ignoring Wolfram. He raised a knife slowly, hovering it just above her throat. "Tell me where the key is."

He repeated slowly, glancing from Michael to Mapleshade.

Alice wasn't terribly surprised that she couldn't keep Mapleshade pinned down, but she was disappointed she hadn't even managed to hit her once.

Kill me? Alice rolled her eyes, these guys were awfully dramatic, so far they hadn't even hurt anyone. "You aren't the sharpest tool." She said disgustedly to Michael, "Go ahead and shoot, Wolfram." She said confidently, giving him a smile and a nod. "I am after all the only one here who actually knows where the key is." She didn't know if that was true, but she didn't care. As far as these guys were aware it was the truth.

Toby snatched one of the guns from off the ground, and aimed it at Michael. "Let go of Alice." He growled. "If you hurt her, I will put a bullet in your head. Or, better yet, your girlfriends head." He turned and pointed it at Mapleshade. He looked like he was almost at a breaking point, seconds from killing everyone there. "Let go. Of the girl. Now." He repeated slowly, glancing from Michael to Mapleshade.

River's heart beat wildly as a sudden flurry of events sprang to life, leaving Alice's throat pressed to a knife. "Let her go, or I'm blowing Monster's brains to kingdom come!" She snarled, her finger hovering over the trigger. He can't hurt Alice. Don't let him hurt Alice.
Mapleshade glanced around, seeming calm. "You all do realize we outnumber you, right? If you shoot one of us you will be instantly slaughtered. Along with Alice."

Wolfram met his fathers gaze, heart beating violently in his chest. "Let her go." He hissed, voice trembling with fear. "Do not hurt her." He glanced at River and Toby, his expression unreadable. Glancing back at his father, he just caught Alice's words.
Alice wasn't terribly surprised that she couldn't keep Mapleshade pinned down, but she was disappointed she hadn't even managed to hit her once.

Michael pressed the knife closer to her throat, a low growl rumbling in his throat. "Tell me where the key is, and your friends will go unscathed."

Wolfram hissed, fear distinct in his eyes. He slunk closer to his father, lowering the gun to his side. "Let her go. I'll tell you where the key is if you let her go."

Michael narrowed his eyes, untrusting of his son. "How do I know you'll tell me? What if its a trick?"

"I swear, We'll tell you. Just let her go, please...." Wolfram pleaded.

"Fine. Remember my men are still surrounding you. With guns."

It's working! Wolfram's heart raced with adrenaline as Michael let go of Alice, pushing her forcefully toward Wolfram.

"Tell me where the key is, then."

Wolfram suddenly jerked the gun upward, planting the tip to his fathers chest, finger hovering over the trigger. "On second thought, nah, we aren't going to give you the key. Toby, keep Mapleshade there. River, Taylor and Alice, shoot at anyone who tries to make one more move."

Toby took a step closer to Mapleshade, still out of arms reach. "I reaallly want to kill you right now. If you try anything, I will. Do you understand?" He hissed, glaring daggers at her.
