«We Could Be Legends»

"Thanks," Sherri gasped. She took a few deep breaths as she stood up, dusting the dirt off her jeans. He sure didn't seem alright. He didn't even move. What if he actually wasn't alive?
Toby watched as River, Ash, and Bleddyn raced off. Probably a trap. They're probably going to die. He thought. He dug around in his backpack and pulled out a water bottle. "Catch," He said, and tossed the bottle to Sherri. Without waiting to see if she caught it or if it hit her in the face, he walked to the car and sat down in the passenger seat, resting his chin on his hand.
With lightning reflexes Sherri hit the bottle away from herself before processing that she was supposed to catch it. She made a futile attempt before it fell into the dirt with a crunch. She groaned before picking it up and dusting the dirt off of it.
Sherri gulped the cool water greedily before screwing the cap back on and sloshing the liquid around in the bottle.
"Want any?" She asked Brisa, offering the other girl the bottle that was still slightly dirty.
She frowned and tried rubbing the dirt off with her finger.
"You were supposed to catch that." Toby said, not needing to look to know she dropped it. "You're lucky it didn't explode all over you. That would've been funny." When she offered the water to Brisa, a look of disgust crossed his face. "Better and less germy idea, she can have another bottle, one that hasn't been used."
“Oh, I’m good, but thanks,” Brisa replied to Sherri’s question m as Toby spoke.
(I’m kinda brain dead, sorry :p)

Connor heard him clearly now. He strained to pitch a volley of barks into the agony-tainted air, then flopped back down into the rubble. His pain had him trembling violently and his mind was a throbbing mess; he was no longer certain of the actual extent of his injuries. He was just as battered and uncertain as the crumbling city around him. Probably just as far gone, too.
"Ash, let's go!" River ordered, her heart beginning to jump around in her chest, but she paused to give Sherri a reassuring glance. "Good job, Sherri." She murmured, before shifting into a wolf, her legs blurring as she hurtled down the path Sherri had come from, her nose to the ground as she followed the cat's scent back, catching whiffs of Wolfram from where he had ran along, too. Is he okay? I don't smell blood yet, only fear... What if we're too late? Ash will never forgive me for leaving him behind. And what would Tom say if he knew I left his friend behind to die... Focus, Sherri didn't say he was dead. We still have time. Just follow Wolfram's and Sherri's scent...
Wolfram jerked his head around, the series of pained yelping coming from somewhere farther along the pile of houses. He slowly crept farther along the piles, and hauled himself up not the trunk of a falling tree. He froze when he looked down, the front half of Connor's wolf form visible. He leapt down from the tree, shifting into his cat form swiftly and crawling down the piles of rubble to reach the wolf. He let out a soft meow of shock, realizing how stuck Connor really was.
He shifted into his human form swiftly, and knelt down by the wolf. "You can't get out, can you?" He stated the obvious in a trembling, breathless voice. Ash, River, please find us soon!
"River and Ash are coming, we'll get you out, I promise. I just...have to figure out how to do it without hurting you more."

With hazy eyes, Connor raised his heavy head to give Wolfram a deadpan stare, silent congratulations for his declaration of the obvious. Then he gave a mournful oomph and let his muzzle sink back to the dirtied pavement.
Everyone must love me for being this fantastic convenience when we're all already barely escaping death.

Wolfram raised his head, glancing nervously around. What were the chances that Mapleshade was lurking around? Very high, he told himself with a sigh, very, very high. Oh, Ash, River, hurry up!

Brisa sighed, wishing there was something she could do. “This wait is killing me!” She exclaimed, dropping her head into her hands. “I wanna help but I’ll probably just get in the way.”

Toby looked up at her and nodded. "They could've been attacked by Mapleshade. It might actually be helpful if we go over there." He said, shrugging. "I mean, it's not like we're doing anything here."

Sherry poked her slouchy shoulder. "Uh, you're a telekinetic. When did that ever account to 'getting in the way'? Not that I would ever let you put yourself into danger like that," She added.

“True,” Brisa replied, lifting her head. “We could at least watch from afar, make sure that they’re alright.” She suggested.

"I still want to check on them." Toby said, getting out of the car and fidgeting with the strap on his backpack. "I'll go and make sure they're okay. Unless something happens I should be back in under ten minutes. Jess, if you let anything bad happen to Alpha, I will hurt you." He threatened, handing Jessi Alpha's leash. He hesitated, looking at everyone uncertainly. What if they're already dead? Maybe I shouldn't go. If they're alive I could get in trouble... He shook his head and turned around, securing the backpack on his back.
