«We Could Be Legends»

"Hey! I've been awake for a while, now." Peter protested, feeling his face flush. He caught the tube clumsily, holding it carefully, as if it was a bomb that might go off. "Um, what does this do, exactly?"

"I'll do that," Peter replied quickly, then added, "I mean, I won't do that. I don't even know how to use a nerf gun..." The last part was said quietly.

"Point and shoot, Pete, point and shoot. Finger off the trigger until you're about to shoot, and keep the safety on so that you don't almost accidentally blow off your best friends dad's pinky toe. The bigger guns are easier to use and more accurate, and if you are shooting people, don't go for headshots unless you know what you're doing, because you'll miss and waste ammo. Aim for the chest. Bigger target." Toby explained.

"*Cough* Unless you are aiming for his head, *Cough*" coughed Indigo.

Toby looked at Indigo. "Who's head? Pete's? Mine? Charlie's? Someone else's?" He asked, staring blankly at her.
"One of those is correct," said Indigo. She busied herself with checking to see which weapons were actually weapons.

"It's a water filter," Indigo said. "You have the most important job, if we need you. You contaminate our water, we won't be alive for long." She laughed.
Peter looked embarrassed. "Oh," he muttered, actually kind of glad that it wasn't some sort of bomb. He felt incredibly foolish, though. Then again, don't I always feel foolish?

"Uh, oh-okay.." Peter stammered. He didn't mention that this advice probably wouldn't help at all. Instead, he just nodded and hoped that Indigo would give him something a bit more dangerous than a water filter.

"Uh, oh-okay.." Peter stammered. He didn't mention that this advice probably wouldn't help at all. What he did say though, he instantly regretted. "It's not like I can shoot my best friend's dad's toe if I don't have friends." Frick. I just said that out loud.
"It's still a water filter. Because I don't trust you with anything else." There are many people I trust with less, though. Indigo glanced towards where Wolfram had gone.

"Okay. I'm gonna go." Toby said, turning around. "Wait, I forgot something," He walked towards Alpha and kissed his forehead. "Love ya bud." He said quietly, and then jogged in the direction of River, Wolfram, and the Asfaw's.
I hope I'm going the right way, He thought, crawling under a large chunk of concrete. That would suck if I wasn't. He stopped, looking around.
Go left. Then forward five yards. Then right. His eyes darkened as he followed the directions from the strange voice, trusting that following it would lead him to the others. Sure enough, after a few minutes of walking he arrived where they were, his eyes now solid black.

"I still want to check on them." Toby said, getting out of the car and fidgeting with the strap on his backpack. "I'll go and make sure they're okay. Unless something happens I should be back in under ten minutes. Jess, if you let anything bad happen to Alpha, I will hurt you." He threatened, handing Jessi Alpha's leash. He hesitated, looking at everyone uncertainly. What if they're already dead? Maybe I shouldn't go. If they're alive I could get in trouble... He shook his head and turned around, securing the backpack on his back.

"I'm a little scared for this, but, yes... I think we can do it. I don't want to leave them alone," Sherri dusted her knees off and straightened.

"Well, I guess I'll stay here, too. Need any supplies... assembled... or something?" Indigo's clear voice rose from inside the van as she took an inventory and pretended to be useful.

Toby looked at Indigo. "You still have your weapons, right? Keep these guys safe." He said, and walked up to her until he was standing right in front of her, his eyes glowing maliciously. "Don't let anyone hurt Jessi. If she is hurt when I come back, I will put a bullet in your head." He said, pointing his gun at her. "Well, I'm off. C'ya!" His voice changed, sounding cheerful as he turned around and walked in the direction of the others.

Whoa. Pressure. And he's asking the defenseless human to protect his sister. It's like he doesn't care about me at all, Indigo said, watching him go as she piled the strange, slightly useless looking weapons outside the vehicle. "You know how to use any of these?" she asked the pink-winged girl. "Or do you prefer to breath fire... out of your mouth?" She picked up a sleek, grey shotgun thing.

Jessi rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry about him. He's too overprotective sometimes, and he doesn't seem to understand I can take care of myself." She said. She walked over to the weapons and picked up a small black handgun. "Aim, and pull the trigger. Seems easy enough. I can only breathe fire while I'm in my other form." She said disappointedly.

"Oh, that sucks. Most of us can only breath fire if we have this thing," Indigo paused to pick up a long, black flamethrower.

Peter's eyes widened and he backed up a step, since he was right by Indigo. He'd finally climbed out of the pit of despair long enough to completely register his surroundings. Wow. That guy sounds serious. He crept a bit closer to Indigo, looking at the weapons in interest.

"Considering you've just woken up after all of that, I'm only going to trust you with this," Indigo tossed a dangerous looking slim silver tube at Peter.

Jessi's eyes widened. "Woah," She breathed, carefully taking the flamethrower. "This is cool."

Toby glanced back at Peter. "Don't look so scared of me, I've only skipped two or three days of my meds." He joked, smiling at Peter. His smile faded. "Uh, what I mean is, as long as you don't hurt me, Jessi, or my dog, I won't hurt you." He corrected himself.

Brisa listened to their exchange with a smile, quietly grabbing a handgun. She had very good aim and could often shoot things the others couldn’t even see thanks to her special vision. Flicking on her heat vision, she began to follow Toby’s reddish-orange shape, glancing back at the others.

"Well, thanks, I guess," Peter muttered. He awkwardly stood there, holding a water filter, not knowing what to do with himself.
