«We Could Be Legends»

"Oh, you don't care if she jumps off a bridge and drowns? Well yeah, I don't like her either! But I have had to deal with that smarty tail for fifteen years! So you can bring yourself together for a couple more minutes, Wolfram! You know how you survive in this world, kid? You get punched, you get cussed out, you get shot up, you lose everything, but you deal with it. Let me finish this call, and we'll go! We'll go, okay?! Just stop!" River roared, her eyes glowing with annoyance. "Lachlan..." She growled, glancing at her son. "Stop looking like your going to blow up with worry. Bleddyn has done this before. She'll be back by dawn, so will Fritz."
"Yeah, but last time you know where she went. And then she ended up in the hospital, half dead." River caught Lachlan's low, worried mutter. She returned her icy blue eyes to Wolfram's gaze, giving him a cold glare.
Wolfram met her her glare with one of the same intensity, behind it thought, it was pain filled."You don't know how much pain I'm in right now. You don't know how much energy it is taking for me to remain at least slightly coherent." I just want a place I go and feel safe! I want someone I actually know... "You don't know half the pain I've had to deal with, this past two days, the past week, my entire life! So don't you dare tell me to 'deal with it!' And if Toby's life is in so much danger, why the frick isn't he being healed?!"His voice was cold, emotionless except for rage. How dare she tell me to just deal with it. She doesn't understand half the stuff I'm trying to deal with.

River cocked her head, her expression calming. "No, Wolfram. I do know. I saw my mother and father murdered by masked men when I was ten. I lived on the streets until I was eighteen. Of anyone, I'm the one who understands you most. And most other people acting like this to me would have two black eyes and a bloody nose by now." She purred, flicking her wolf tail. "He isn't being healed because he is being the fool he is. I'm coming up with something to convince him now."

(That escalated quickly)

"Well boo hoo for you! I'm going into the car, I can't stay one more minute the this damn place!"Wolfram snarled at her, showing not a hint of sympathy in his face or voice. He looked at Lachlan for a minute, but his face held nothing but disgust. He whipped around, walking out of the still open door, opened the door to the car nd got inside, slamming the door shut.

"Pathetic." River snarled after him, lashing her tail and pinning her ears. "Lachlan, go deal with your friend! I'm going to finish this up so we can get out of this cursed place!" She growled ruthlessly at her son. "And if he doesn't get his guts together, he is not staying anywhere near us, hear it? Go wait in the car, I'll be coming soon!" She growled, raising the phone back to her ear and turning her back on Lachlan.

Lachlan sighed, slumping his body. Really, Wolfram? Ergh, now I have to sit with Mr. I'm-mad-at-everyone-pants. He turned on his heels, walking out the door and through the mud. He jerked the door open, and slid in the car next to Wolfram. "Before you start yelling at me with your accusations, I'm just here because my mother is making me, okay?!"
