«We Could Be Legends»

She pulled away from his touch, angry at how quickly he seemed to have changed. "Really? You're not going to hurt anyone?" She spat, glaring up at him. She swatted his hand away. She wanted to scream and fight, but all she could manage was chattering her teeth together. It was the same question she had asked, right before her mom was shot. "Just leave me alone." She said, shoving him back so she could go join the others. "I'm fine!"
Wolfram hissed, stumbling backwards. "Really Alice?" He growled. "Are you just going to lie to yourself?" His voice was harsh, but his eyes glittering with sympathy. " 'I'm fine!' Is what we all say Alice, regardless if we really are fine or not. Don't lie to me, don't lie to yourself. I know you're hurt, and I'm sorry." He paused, forcing his voice not to sound so harsh. "I'm sorry, Alice. I didn't mean to scare you. I didn't. I promise, I would never hurt Toby, or River, or you, or Camilla or anyone of you guys on purpose. I swear." He took a ragged breath in, eyes clouding darkly. "I don't know what I can say. I guess you can only say so much before you run out of breath..." He shook his head, running a hair through her raven-black hair. He avoided her, walking wearily toward River, emotionally and physically drained.

River glanced at Toby, shaking her head as she regained control over her emotions. "No... I'm sticking with you guys." She murmured, approaching a old jeep that had been crashed into a pile of rocks, eyeing a skeleton that was laying beside it. I killed that man, I remember him. I remember his screams. She blinked, realizing that she had paled and looked faint again, and looked to where Toby was walking to. "Either Tayn or Rex did that scorch thing." She said.

Toby looked up at her, and then back at the scorch marks. "This was Rex. See how it's burned like acid fire got it? Wyvern fire is different than normal fire, or lightning." He mumbled quietly. Rex killed so many people. Is this really what happened last time people fought the Pure? And they're still around? We need to stop them, before this happens again, only worse. He thought.

"You said anyone." She grumbled, and looked over her shoulder at him. "Taylor is someone. So, you're lying too?" She didn't really care to hear his answer and continued out into the field.

Alice looked over at the burn marks, her mom? Really? She glanced back at River, her parents hadn't told her anything about this place, she assumed they must not have been part of it.

Wolfram just glanced at her, not even bothering to answer. "Lets...lets just get this frigging crystal and get out of here." He muttered.

River looked at him dully, her face sheet white. She raised a hand, laying it gently on his non-injured shoulder, before realizing that she had really done so, and yanked it back to her side. "You okay?" She asked, before twitching her ears in annoyance at herself. "No, of course you're not alright." She muttered, her eyes now and then flickering to the body beside the ruined jeep.

"No, I'm fine." Wolfram muttered following her face. Hah, hypocrite.
What?
You told Alice not to lie.
And?
You're lying.
Leave me alone...

"Are you alright, River?"
Alice sighed, "I think it's safe to say none of us are alright. So, let's just stop asking!" She stopped talking trying to calm herself down. This place was too creepy for words. And having Bleddyn jumping off the side of a cliff playing through her mind over and over wasn't helping. "There's a big opening just over this hill, where the roof of the cave fell in, there's a bit of a path down. We need to be careful the crystals only grow inside in some of the smaller tunnels where it's dark."

"Are you alright, River?"
There it was, that stupidly annoying question that seemed to follow River wherever she went.
She blinked, realizing after he had voiced that cursed question she had started staring at the remains for some moments. Oh River, I'm sure you seem alright. She glanced at him, chewing her lip awkwardly.
Truth was, no. She wasn't all right, she felt like her family was dying, including her, to be exact. Her son had been attacked and kidnapped-- And stabbed, her husband could be dead, her niece probably had depression, her other niece probably had post traumatic stress disorder, her brother that she had vowed to protect was dead, her sister-in-law was dead, one of her best friends probably hated her right now, she was fighting the people who had murdered her parents again, her friends' kids had been shot, stabbed, and other wise nearly killed, there was a poison that could kill her entire family and most of the population, she was staring at an old battle field from a battle she had fought in-- And killed in, most of this was probably her fault, and the list went on and on.
She gave a half hearted smirk, staring Wolfram in the eyes. "I'm perfectly fine. Now, let's go get that crystal, shall we?"

"That's what we all say." Wolfram sighed. He met her eyes, his eyes for once looking completely human. "We shall." Are you proud of me, mom?
The darkness of the cave was eerie, forbidding. He walked towards it slowly, the clearing suddenly entirely silent. Suddenly, a loud snap echoed in the clearing. He whirled around, knife already in hand. Taylor looked up at him sheepishly. "Sorry, I stepped on a twig."
Wolfram hissed. "Someone punch her for me, please." He muttered, drawing closer to the cave.

Toby looked at the burn spot one last time, and followed them into the cave. The shadows of the cave swirled around, as hundreds of voices whispered things, things no person should know, things that could drive a person to insanity. His eyes were slightly glossed over, trying to block everything out. He was too distracted with the voices he didn't see when Wolfram stopped. He bumped into him and flinched backwards, snapped out of his daze. "I-I'm sorry, I-I didn't see y-you stop." He stuttered, carefully moving past him.
