«We Could Be Legends»

"Alice!" Wolfram yelped, holding in a bout of sobs. "Get off the frigging phone and help me! Please help me, River has been shot. Please! The crystals aren't working!"

Toby looked up. "The crystals aren't working? Here, let me help her." He said calmly, and ran over to River. He put on a pair of gloves, and slowly lifted up her shirt enough for him to see the wound. "Wolfram, get the bottle of water out of my backpack, please. And the bandages. Not the small ones, the big ones. Mrs. Loson, this is probably going to hurt, sorry." He applied pressure onto her wound, trying to slow down the bleeding.
River grimaced, staring up at him. "I... I don't know... They should work..." She rasped, a trickle of blood starting to flow from her mouth.
"Wait, no, Toby, Alice she-" Wolfram hesitated, remembering Alice's warning to not tell anyone. "She can heal her. She has healing powers. ALICE! Put down the frigging phone and get over here now!"

Alice's eyes flicked over to Wolfram, "Uh-I have to go!" She said hanging up and tossing the phone back to Taylor. The high stress was starting to take it's toll on her she could feel her energy waning. Alice hurriedly walked over, and dropped down on her knees next to River between the two boys, "What do you mean it's not working? These things are supposed to be like super powerful." She put a shaky hand over Rivers blood covered stomach. Wincing at the feeling of her aunts heart beat. She gasped in a shaky breath squeezing her eyes shut, focusing all her strength into healing her, doubt and fear filled her, what if it didn't work, just like it didn't work for her mom, she'd lose her aunt too.

River let out a loud yelp as Toby began pushing on her wound, her eyes clamped shut.
"River..." Wolfram whimpered softly. "Just hold on, hold on please. Alice is going to heal you. You're going to be ok. I promise you that."
River gave a slight nod, about to say something, before slamming her mouth shut, afraid of screaming in pain.

Wolfram couldn't find the strength to respond, just wanted anxiously, heart pounding in his chest. She'll be fine. It's fine. I'm fine. River's fine, everyone's fine.
But not dad...

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He said, trying to hide the panic that was now creeping into his voice.

Toby stood up and backed away from them. Please work, please work, please work. She won't die. She's not going to die. She can't die. He stared down at his blood covered hands. The smell of her blood was making him sick. Everywhere he looked there were dead bodies, both new, and old. The ground was covered in blood. He was doing a decent job at staying calm, but inside he was panicking. His hands trembled slightly as he tried to focus on anything but the dead bodies and the blood.

"You realized you caused this, right Wolfram?" Taylor growled, coming up behind him.
"What?"
"You shot her, moron!"
Wolfram stared at her with wide eyes. The world was spinning, his racing heart drowning out all other noises. He stood up, backing away from River. "I'm no better then my father. I'm a monster...."

Alice grabbed the phone letting Taylor go, and dialed Camilla's number. "Pick up, pick up!" she whispered to herself pacing in a circle

Virio faced the girl that had slowly approached him, finding no malign intentions within her before he spoke. As she spoke, he grew to appreciate her, even in the small seconds she conversed. She was looking out for him, for some unknown reason, and that was touching for him, who normally went about problems alone. At the end of her words, Virio gave a nod of acknowledgement, responding "Thank you Brisa...I'm Virio, if you didn't know." He gave her a small smile as he added "There's so much stuff on this phone...I feel like I should share it with you, so we can at least know what is going on through all of this." He questioned simply "Do you want my number or something, or want to meet somewhere so you can take a look through the phone?"

Camilla blinked, fully awake now. "What? Okay, okay, I'll get Brisa and we'll get the key. I'll, uh, see you at the park!" She yelped, hanging up.
She began scrolling through her list of contacts, finally stumbling upon Brisa's name, and dialed it. Come on, come on! (@Thing2LovesChickens )

Brisa opened her mouth to ask what he meant by “the phone” when hers started to vibrate, ringing loudly as if screaming for her attention. She snatched it out of her pocket, flinching as her hand brushed against the key’s envelope, and answered Camilla’s call, seeming to forget the boy standing in front of her. “What’s wrong?” She asked, butterflies leaping into action in her stomach. “Is everyone okay?”

(I have been waiting for this moment in suspense for quite a while... :) Also, I probably won’t be on much tonight, but tomorrow from about 5 pm on I most definitely will. :))
