«We Could Be Legends»

Wolfram, please tell me where you are. I want to know what's going on.

Wolfram stared at the text, and sighed. He leaned his head against the car seat, staring at the ceiling of the car. Was Bleddyn safe? What about Brisa, or Jessi, or Lachlan. Camilla, Ash, even Conner?
Where was Mapleshade at that point in time?
His eyes flickered shut as his hearing stretched out, as far as he could get it. He could hear Bleddyn's voice, and...he thought he could hear Brisa's, but it was just to far away to tell. He could hear there voice, but not what they where saying. Then a sob cut through his thoughts, averting his attention. Mapleshade. He could hear her sobbing, murmuring incoherent words. He jerked back into reality, gasping softly as he phone started ringing.
Answering the phone, he hesitantly raised it to his ear. "Lily?" He rasped.
"Wolfram! You are scaring me. What is going on?!"
"Lily...." Wolfram groaned, burying his head in his free hand. "It's complicated. Stay where you are, at school. I'll tell you later, I promise. If you see Mapleshade though, just...go somewhere where a lot of people are, a classroom or something. Don't walk alone."
"You aren't ever going to tell me, are you?"
"Unless it comes down to it...no."
"Fine. I'll take your word, then. I love you."
Wolfram was about to reply, when the phone call ended abruptly. Setting his phone down, he looked at River, forcing himself to look at least a little bit alive. "Alright then. What's the plan?"

"Come on, 'nor," Ash called back into the bedroom, at the same time wildly beckoning for her husband's timely appearance. She wasn't exactly appreciating the fact that her daughter and her friends' kids were without supervision in a time like this and therefore it'd be nice if he moved with alacrity for once.
How I wish automatic mutual understanding came with the marriage package.
Connor was at her side slightly less punctually than she would've liked, but, hey, for once he was up with no resistance.
"Yes, that motley bunch is 100% fine," Ash ascertained lightly as she edged around Camilla out into the thickly carpeted hallway. She mentally skimmed over the latter part of that sentence, not wanting to get sucked into the fact that healing crystals were now an intimidating aspect of this whole thing.
Connor followed mutely, looking more dead than alive.
Ash turned back to Camilla once she'd reached the stairs. She had her fingers splayed out, silently numerating every individual somehow involved in this fiasco.
It's pretty much the heroes crew all over again, times two. How ironic.
"So...we're meeting Bleddyn, Jessi, Brisa...the park...for what reason?"
Camilla, walking around her, practically skipping down the stairs, before tripping and face-planting the rest of the way. She quickly scrambled to her feet before Lachlan could come to her rescue, annoyedly fidgeting with her hair now, all the while glowering at Lachlan who now stood at her side awkwardly.
"Me, you, Connor, Jenna, Moon-moon, and Fin are meeting up with Brisa, Bleddyn, and Jessi, then we're going to the bank and getting a poison that could kill most inhumans, shapeshifters, centaures, mer-people, ya'know, inhumans like that, with a box key that Brisa was given. Then we're meeting up with Aunt River, Wolfram, Alice, Random-girl-one, and Toby, then finally figuring out a way to destroy said poison named the 'Key'. Oh yeah, did I mention doing all this without getting caught by the maniacal Pure? Yeah, fun, right?" She sputtered with such speed that she was nearly incoherent.

Alice slumpped in the back seat of Wolrams car breifly looking at the SUV still parked next to them wondering if maybe they should that that one instead. Maybe there'd be a radio or something, maybe weapons, but she wasn't going to say anything no one was really in any shape to drive. Except maybe Taylor, but she had already slid into the seat next to her.

"I told Camilla to meet us at the park with the key." She said stopping to yawn. "But that might take a while for them to get. If you're worried about your friend we could go look for her and make sure she's safe." Alice clipped her seat buckle on and then leaned her head against the door, closing her eyes. It was at least a half hour drive back to town even with wolfram speeding and she needed sleep.

"Okaaaaaaaay." Ash blinked the remains of her bleariness away to make room for the comprehension that the situation now required her to function with. She forced a weak smile onto her flushed face, reassurance to Camilla’s obvious instability. ”I think I got most of that yesterday...maybe..."

"Coffee," Connor blurted out of nowhere. He pivoted until he was facing the possessor of the sacred substance. Nothing else mattered until he got caffeine down his throat. He looked incredibly canid with his pitiful beseeching. ”Jenna. Coffee."
And then he actually was a begging wolf, sitting at Jenna’s feet with pathetically desperate eyes and a hyperactive tail.

Jenna stared surprised at the wolf begging at her feet. Normally she would never think of giving an animal coffee, but he was part human. Good thing Toby's hound is not here to get any ideas. She thought, and handed one of the to-go cups of coffee to him. "Ash, do you drink coffee?" She asked, offering her another cup.

River whirled on Alice, eyes wide. "You did what? You told Camilla, your brash and currently emotionally unstable and grieving little sister, to round up the group of equally brash and grieving teenagers and three unstable adults to go get a poison, trusting them to not be ambushed by the Pure and lose the poison that can kill over half of earth's population, without us?! Please tell me you're joking, Alice."

Camilla hardly heard Ash, staring at her uncle dumbly, before jabbing Lachlan in the arm, who had also begun stepping forward as he caught sight of said coffee.
"Lachlan, no. Last time you had coffee might have been hilarious, but incredibly annoying, and not needed again." She said, quite amused by the fact that Connor was begging, and that Lachlan had possibly been about to join him.

Alice frowned eyes shut, opening one eye to look at River who was in the front. "They're not stupid. Besides we have a plan. It makes sense for us to meet them with the crystals after they have they key. It'll take time for them to get it and it'll take time for us to get back to town." It made sense to her to do it that way. It's not like they didnt have special powers, what help would healing or being able to transform into a cat do? When there were wyverns and teleporters and telekinetics already there. "It'll be fine." She said closing her eyes again.

Connor grinned the disturbing smile that only a wolf could and shifted back to take the cup from her. "Sorry for that," he apologized bashfully, awkwardly scratching at his head. "Instinct."
Ash laughed and elbowed him hard in the ribs. "You'd think you were new to shifting with all your untimely screwups."
She looked back at Jenna. "I usually only do if it's all creamed up. He's the only one who takes it positively black." She pursed her lips thoughtfully, still going over the information that'd been rambled to her. "Are you coming along with us on this..." Ash quickly rethought the negating word "suicide" before it could escape. "...mission?"

Jenna smiled. "There should be milk in the fridge. Anyone who wants coffee, or to make adjustments to their coffee, do it now." She said to everyone, and turned back to Ash. She knew what Ash almost said, and was grateful she didn't say it, the word "suicide" bringing up bad memories for her. "Yes, I will be coming. It's just like old times, only with our children, and hopefully I will not leave suddenly."
