«We Could Be Legends»

"Chances? Victory? Against Mapleshade?" Wolfram gave a soft snort of what could have been amusement, if he didn't look half-dead. "She defeated us one time, she can do it again. She's incredibly powerful. A silent killer. Even of you hold a gun to her head she'll still find a way to defeat you." He muttered. He leaned back even farther against the minivan, his dull gaze on Ash. "I wish I could believe you. I wish I could believe we could truly rid of Mapleshade. But I can't...I've seen her fight. There's no way. She has to many people on her side, and she's to strong." He pulled his hands to his head, giving a sigh of defeat. I want to believe you so badly...but I've seen the damage she causes... "Please just tell me this is a nightmare. Please."
River stepped forward, eyeing him. "You're an incredibly real thing in a incredibly fake world, but you know that, don't you? That's why you're sufferin' so much. Because you're real, the world is just gonna keep attackin' you, puttin' you to your knees. Isn't that how it feels? Feels like someone is rippin' your heart out and takin' it apart, then tapin' it back together and stuffin' it back inside at an odd angle, and then repeatin' the process? It's so easy to give up. But you know what? You can't. Because then other people will have to go through it too, and you have to stick out for them, however unfair it is." She murmured, and at the end jerking her hand towards Lachlan, Finlay, and Camilla. "You know what? This is a nightmare. A real nightmare, kid. Listen to me, I can't tell you everythin' is okay, because it isn't. Nor can I tell you everythin' will be better soon, or that the pain will go away. All we-- You, can do is try to survive, Wolfram. And I'm so sorry for that, that I can't help more."

Brisa nodded in agreement with Ash. “Wolfram, you saved a life. That’s an amazing thing. That’s the kind of act legends and great stories are written about. You have nothing to be ashamed of, trust me. You’re incredibly brave.” She took a deep breath and glanced around at the others. “It’s okay to break. Everyone here is broken in one way or another. But we all care for each other and would do anything for each other. You’ve just demonstrated that. Are the Pure that close? Do they have that determination? No, they don’t. Plus, we’re Inhuman and they aren’t, which gives us a significant advantage.” She thought for a second before bursting out, “You know what? I pity Mapleshade! No one loves her and she loves no one. It must be miserable to live in a world of such hate.”

“Also, aside from lethal powers, we also have a good amount of highly lethal people on our side. And we’ve beaten the Pure three times now. The only time that they won was when they caught us off guard, and you know that’s true. No, we can’t make sure that no one else dies if we fight. But we don’t have any choice in the matter, really. Either we win or an entire race dies.” She said.
"Yeah," Sherri agreed, putting her arm on her friends shoulder. "We'll be there. Because I for one don't want to die," she faltered hearing the sound of her own voice, "and I don't want to see any one of you die either." Her lip trembled as she prepared to be shamed for her selfishness at the base.

Brisa smiled at her, returning the gesture and wrapping her arm around her friend’s shoulders.
(Sorry for the short post.)

Bleddyn leaned over the seat and her hand shot out to clamp around Peter's shirt collar. "That never happened, understand?" she hissed venomously, pulling his face up so that she could bore weirdly menacing blue eyes into his. "That never happened."
Then she let her aggressive fingers go slack, dropping him, and she straightened back up, completely unbothered.
Peter's eyes widened. "Uh.. uh, okay," he stammered. He subconsciously pulled at his hoodie. Kinda... rude. I mean, I saved her life. Peter watched her warily, bracing for another outburst.
Well, you did fail pretty miserably. They had to carry you onto the van! He reminded himself, sulkily shoving his hands back into his pockets.
"You admitted it," but Indigo's mutter was too quiet for Toby to hear. Sherri stared. Being part cat she had heard every word. Good, so Indigo had a weakness she could use to tease.
"Umm, hate to interrupt the conversation of two lovers, but why is your headset thingy flashing all different colors?"
Indigo jolted. "Oh! Uhh..."
She picked it up. A message, prerecorded.
"MULTITUDE EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT. WE APPEAR TO BE UNDER ATTACK, I REPEAT, WE APPEAR TO BE UNDER ATTACK"
A nervous woman added, picking up the phone at the other end. Or at least, Indigo assumed that's what she was doing: "We are evacuatingPurenot sure what's going on rightnow," she said in a rushed voice.
"Yeah, that helped, Lacey," Indigo growled.
She hailed Frosty.
"Yeah, I got an alert statement. Pure attack."
"Better than taxi-kid. And it would be accurate." Toby grumbled. He turned right, noticing the sign. "Um, they aren't going to instantly attack us because we look like the Pure, right?" He asked nervously.
Frosty went quiet as he heard the message. "I'll see if I can contact.. any survivors and tell them we're not Pure." He said, poking at the tiny buttons on his watch-phone.

Indigo nodded before realizing he couldn't see her. "Rodger that," she muttered. She felt the attraction to the group, safety and numbers. But they would deny her anyways. So she stood by, waiting impatiently for the confirmation of the Multitude's safety.

Toby was silent as they drove up the road. Eventually he spotted a familiar building, guarded by a gate. "Okay. We're here." He said quietly.
(Are the Pure still there?)
