«We Could Be Legends»

“True,” Brisa replied, lifting her head. “We could at least watch from afar, make sure that they’re alright.” She suggested.
"I'm a little scared for this, but, yes... I think we can do it. I don't want to leave them alone," Sherri dusted her knees off and straightened.
"I still want to check on them." Toby said, getting out of the car and fidgeting with the strap on his backpack. "I'll go and make sure they're okay. Unless something happens I should be back in under ten minutes. Jess, if you let anything bad happen to Alpha, I will hurt you." He threatened, handing Jessi Alpha's leash. He hesitated, looking at everyone uncertainly. What if they're already dead? Maybe I shouldn't go. If they're alive I could get in trouble... He shook his head and turned around, securing the backpack on his back.
"Well, I guess I'll stay here, too. Need any supplies... assembled... or something?" Indigo's clear voice rose from inside the van as she took an inventory and pretended to be useful.

Toby looked at Indigo. "You still have your weapons, right? Keep these guys safe." He said, and walked up to her until he was standing right in front of her, his eyes glowing maliciously. "Don't let anyone hurt Jessi. If she is hurt when I come back, I will put a bullet in your head." He said, pointing his gun at her. "Well, I'm off. C'ya!" His voice changed, sounding cheerful as he turned around and walked in the direction of the others.

Whoa. Pressure. And he's asking the defenseless human to protect his sister. It's like he doesn't care about me at all, Indigo said, watching him go as she piled the strange, slightly useless looking weapons outside the vehicle. "You know how to use any of these?" she asked the pink-winged girl. "Or do you prefer to breath fire... out of your mouth?" She picked up a sleek, grey shotgun thing.

Jessi rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry about him. He's too overprotective sometimes, and he doesn't seem to understand I can take care of myself." She said. She walked over to the weapons and picked up a small black handgun. "Aim, and pull the trigger. Seems easy enough. I can only breathe fire while I'm in my other form." She said disappointedly.

"Oh, that sucks. Most of us can only breath fire if we have this thing," Indigo paused to pick up a long, black flamethrower.

Peter's eyes widened and he backed up a step, since he was right by Indigo. He'd finally climbed out of the pit of despair long enough to completely register his surroundings. Wow. That guy sounds serious. He crept a bit closer to Indigo, looking at the weapons in interest.

"Considering you've just woken up after all of that, I'm only going to trust you with this," Indigo tossed a dangerous looking slim silver tube at Peter.

Jessi's eyes widened. "Woah," She breathed, carefully taking the flamethrower. "This is cool."

Toby glanced back at Peter. "Don't look so scared of me, I've only skipped two or three days of my meds." He joked, smiling at Peter. His smile faded. "Uh, what I mean is, as long as you don't hurt me, Jessi, or my dog, I won't hurt you." He corrected himself.

"Hey! I've been awake for a while, now." Peter protested, feeling his face flush. He caught the tube clumsily, holding it carefully, as if it was a bomb that might go off. "Um, what does this do, exactly?"

"I'll do that," Peter replied quickly, then added, "I mean, I won't do that. I don't even know how to use a nerf gun..." The last part was said quietly.

"It's a water filter," Indigo said. "You have the most important job, if we need you. You contaminate our water, we won't be alive for long." She laughed.
