«We Could Be Legends»

"Okay. I'm gonna go." Toby said, turning around. "Wait, I forgot something," He walked towards Alpha and kissed his forehead. "Love ya bud." He said quietly, and then jogged in the direction of River, Wolfram, and the Asfaw's.
I hope I'm going the right way, He thought, crawling under a large chunk of concrete. That would suck if I wasn't. He stopped, looking around.
Go left. Then forward five yards. Then right. His eyes darkened as he followed the directions from the strange voice, trusting that following it would lead him to the others. Sure enough, after a few minutes of walking he arrived where they were, his eyes now solid black.
Bleddyn turned around to see who the newcomer was and nearly jumped a yard backward. After having recovered from the initial shock of seeing Toby in his darkened state, she motioned toward her mother and the fixated wolf she followed. "River's looking--or, erm, scenting."
She took a few longer strides forward, halfheartedly beckoning for Toby to follow her instead of joining the two women. Although she greatly doubted the probability of herself locating her father rather than her skilled mother and aunt, her initiative actually turned fruitful when she raced around a corner to find a certain beacon of success.
"Oh, Wolfram..." She trailed off and hurried forward through the rubble, her hand coming up to her mouth to suppress whatever sound of shock would inevitably come as soon as she saw what had the older boy visibly panicked.

"I won't hurt you," Toby said, his voice eerily calm. He followed Bleddyn, coming to a stop behind her. "Did you f..." His voice trailed off as he stared at the wolf caught underneath the rubble. "We need to find a way to get him out." He said, looking for some kind of sturdy pole.

Wolfram froze, his sensitive hearing picking up approaching footsteps. Mapleshade? Oh please don't let it be...
He shot to his feet, spinning around. "Bleddyn," he said breathlessly, sounding both relieved, surprised and panicked. He glanced at Connor, then back at Bleddyn. "Ash and River are with you guys...right?" He murmured, "we can't get him out ourselves." I don't even know if we can get him out.

"Erm... ish. They're still a little ways away." Toby replied. He found a large metal pole, and grabbed a rock. Flattening half of the pole with the rock, he held it up. "We can use this as a lever. Help me, will you?" He asked Wolfram, and then turned to Connor. "Connor, when we lift this up you need to move out of the way quickly, okay? And Bled, you need to help get your dad out." He pushed the flat side of the pole under the chunk of concrete. "3, 2, 1, now." He tried to lift the concrete, barely getting it to move, but not enough for Connor to escape.

"We need to wait!" Wolfram hissed, eyes darting frantically from Connor to Toby. "Don't! Do not move it anymore, Toby! If it falls, it could kill him. We need to wait for Ash and River, they'll know the safest way to get him out."

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry." Toby said, slowly backing away from Connor and Wolfram, his hands slightly raised to show he wasn't trying to lift it anymore. Everything I do has to be bad, doesn't it? For once let me do something useful. He stared off in the direction of River and Ash, avoiding looking at Wolfram. "I can go get the Mrs. Loson and Asfaw if you think that would be more useful than waiting for them to come to us." He offered quietly.

"It's okay, it's fine, it's not your fault. You didn't know." Wolfram drew in a sharp breath, and glanced at Connor. "Do you have a weapon on you? Anything that you can use to defend yourself in case Maple or her men come after you?"

Toby glanced at Wolfram. He wasn't sure who he was talking to, so instead of making a fool of himself if Wolfram was talking to Connor or Bleddyn, he stayed quiet, poking at the ground with his shoe.

"Toby. If you have a weapon to defend yourself, go look for River and Ash. But if you don't...stay with us. I don't want anyone else getting hurt." Wolfram murmured.

"Oh, you were talking to me?" His head snapped up to stare at Wolfram. "Yeah I have a weapon. I'll go get them." He turned and jogged towards River and Ash. He followed the same strange voices until he reached them. His eyes had just been turning back to purple, but by the time he arrived they were black again. "Mrs. Asfaw, Mrs. Loson? We found him." He said. "Follow me." He lead them back to Connor.
