«We Could Be Legends»

"Yes he has," Indigo cut in. "Toby, please help Brisa here," she said, dragging him over. No suicide missions for you. Listen to reason, Toby.

Toby glared at up at Indigo, planting his feet firmly into the ground as he was dragged next to Brisa. "Fine. But then I'm going after Mapleshade, and if you try to stop me, I'll shoot you in the foot." He said, pointing his gun at her foot. He walked up to Brisa and examined her wound. "I can pull it out, but you could lose too much blood. Right now it's acting almost like an internal tourniquet," he cut off a long strip of fabric and tied it around her wound and shoulder. "This should help keep it in place. This is really all I can do without pulling it out."

River rolled her eyes as Mapleshade declared that the Heroes would soon all be dead. "Guess it'll just have to be a David and Goliath situation." She murmured lazily, trying to keep the inevitable fight waiting as long as possible, while she came up with a plan and collected different cues from Mapleshade and Shadow that could be used while fighting; how they behaved.
The moment Wolfram told her to take down Shadow, she sprung into action.
Subdue him, then shoot. She kicked him in the shin, before throwing a hook punch to his jaw, then shoving her shoulder into his chest; knocking him to the ground.

"Wait!" Camilla scrambled up to them, highly aware of Finlay close at her heal, and her eyes nervously darted between Taylor and the fire. "I have ice powers, maybe I could freeze it over while a few of us go across...?"
"Okayokayokay." Bleddyn went to roll her sleeves up for utterly no logical reason and suffered a profound sense of disappointment when she realized that, not only did she not have sleeves, but that she couldn't even recognize nor remember what she was supposed to be wearing.
And that really hit her hard.
She bit her lip as she had to once more wrench herself away from the abyssal pull of psychological distortion. "I'm gonna do the thing." And so, with that declaration, she dove forward into the wall of fire, summoning the unparalleled might of an ancestral war cry nearly lost to the passage of time. "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET."
Taylor blinked dumbly when Camilla ran up to her, then nodded quickly. "Sound's gr—Bleddyn, wait!" She lunged out to grab the other girl, but she was already gone and through the flames. "Or...not. That's fine, I guess...alright, Camilla, do your best."

Shadow had expected a good fight from the shifter, but never in his life had he expected her to be that strong. With a yelp of pain, his leg and jaw throbbing, he felt himself falling. Blue flame spiraled from the ground with a soft growl, and caught him, wholly consuming him to stop him from falling.
A grin on his sharp features, he got to his feet in a fluid motion. "Is that all you have?" He purred. The air crackled as flame's snapping through the air, lashing around her wrists and dragging her closer. He easily towered over her, even though she was at the impressive height of six foot one, which gave him a advantage, but she would be quicker.
He hand came down hard against her jaw, his foot sweeping down and yanking her legs from beneath her, and at that moment the flame-strands snapped, leaving her to fall.

Wolfram no longer had fingernails, or natural human teeth made for consuming anything that was edible, or normal human eyes that were useless in the dark. Instead, lethal claws sprouted from the tips of his fingers, gleaming in the light of the blue flame. Fangs that scarily resembled a feline's grew in the place of his normal teeth, and his pupils slitted to a thin line.
A growl rumbled in his throat, not the normal growl of frustration he would often make, but was now undisputedly a noise that would come from a furious feline. Instead of human ears, raven-black cat ears replaced themselves on his head.
Mapleshade took a shaking step back, but Wolfram was faster. Like a shadow, he dashed forward, claws lashing against her already scarred face. "Back. Down!" He spat, in a voice that was not his own. Deeper and raspier. More like a growl and a hiss then anything. He, vaguely, remembered that in times he forced himself to shift only half way, his voice would do that. He supposed due to the fact his voicebox couldn't tell if he should be human or feline. Or something like that. The physicalogical reasons his voice changed was not the matter at hand at the moment.
"Really? You really think I'll do that?"
Wolfram didn't hear her then, though, because something had caught his attention. Bursting from the blue-gray flames, he saw Bleddyn. A stab of horror consumed him, but he didn't have time to think about it any more because Mapleshade had slammed a violent punch against his jaw.

River couldn't suppress a shriek as her wrists were scorched by his flames, and his fist came down hard on her jaw. Before she could retaliate, she was laying on her back on the cold hard ground, the breath momentarily knocked from her lunges.
She gasped, stumbling to her feet and inspecting her wrists, giving a wolfish snarl as she saw the second-degree burns blistering her them. "Alright, now I'm ticked." She growled, then leaped at him, her hands coming up on either side of his face. "I'm gonna enjoy this." She purred, her claws digging into his skin until blood bubbled up, and she gave a psychotic grin as she twisted her hands, deepening her claws and causing more pain before dragging them down to his chin, and jerking them away with little remorse. "You and Maple-Monster or whatever aren't gonna win." She murmured, her bloodied fist coming forward at a shocking speed and colliding with his windpipe. "Ya like that? More where it came from."

"Alright." Camilla whispered, stumbling towards the fire until she was so close the flames almost touched her. She spread out her hands, before spewing out ice, and the fire gave angry hissing sounds as her cold-powers smothered it, spreading out over the line of fire and leaving a trail of coals and quickly melting ice. "Okay guys!"

Shadow whipped his face away as her claws practically ripped open his face, but it only made it worse. Blood clouded his vision as a fist collided against his throat. He staggered back, a strangled choke escaping his lips. Violently, he shook his head, blood spattering the ground. "You're messing with the wrong person, lady." Full force, his foot slammed into her shin, glowing flames lashing out and attacking her from every angle they could reach.

Taylor dashed forward, clearing the trail of flaming coals in a clean jump. But so did the Pure, closing in on the group.
"Alright!" She raised her voice, yelling above the screeching of the rest of the battle. "Come on, Heroes! Let's show these good for nothing losers what we're made of!"

Bleddyn peered at Brisa's shoulder like she was inspecting nothing more than a paper cut. "Yeah, you probably don't want to take that out," she agreed helpfully. "I think Toby's been pretty useful with that kind of stuff, though..."

Taylor watched as the last ray of sunlight vanished through the trees, consuming them in almost complete darkness. "I agree with Bleddyn," she murmured, edging closer to the wall of fire which lit the clearing, the light eldritch and preturnatural.
Looking through the flames she could see Wolfram, Mapleshade, River, and Shadow, their bodies casting long shadows from the eerie lighting. "I don't think it's a good idea for Brisa to waste her energy," she concluded, striding back to the group. "Maybe we should pull a Wolfram. He's not dead, so...maybe we'll make it to?"

"Yes he has," Indigo cut in. "Toby, please help Brisa here," she said, dragging him over. No suicide missions for you. Listen to reason, Toby.

“Thanks.” Brisa winced as Toby wrapped fabric around her shoulder. “I think I’m gonna pass out once this is all over.” She said, fully serious. Lifting her head at Bleddyn’s wild screaming disappearance into the flames, she straightened and stepped forward, ready to fight. As Camilla reduced the fire to coals she followed Taylor over the glowing ashes, prepared to see the worst and fight to the death.

Indigo nodded her head in agreement. She took a resolute step toward the dying flames and batted her hair as ashes settled in her curls, releasing an awful stink of burning hair.
She looked back at Toby. Come on, Toby-heart. We're doing this together.
He was gasping and watching. Catch your breath. You're going to need it.
Then Indigo gingerly skipped across the bed of ashes, hating how the fire threatened to burn right through the thin soles of her delicate shoes. She came to a stop on the other side, brushing off the dust with an air of indifference, before turning her gaze back to a ragged creature of which you could only assume was Toby.

Very much so on fire, Bleddyn immediately slammed to the ground within the ring of fire and experienced a horrible series of pain. Even once she was significantly extinguished, her skin was definitely not okay.
And there was the horrid smell of burning flesh everywhere.
Barely keeping her stomach's contents where they belonged, she rolled back to her feet just in time to witness Wolfram take a blow to his jaw. She decided to counter with a sparking fist to the back of the two-toned head.

(Taylor doesn't know that, not yet anyway XD)

Taylor was essentially useless now that the sun had gone down, so instead opted to slamming multiple punches to a Pure's face, and snatched the gun from their hands, dispatching them swiftly. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Lily, using the most odd tactic Taylor had ever seen, 'cower, but if they come to close, shoot them to smithereens'. Shaking her head, she, with no guilt, shot a Pure directly in the head.

Wolfram hadn't expected for Mapleshade to yelp and stagger away, nor did he expect her to remove her claws from their spot of tearing apart his face, but she did. Mapleshade had whirled around, giving Wolfram full view to see who had caused the psychopathic shifter to release him. He gave a single nod of thanks to Bleddyn, a shadow of a smile crossing his face.
Before Mapleshade could make a move to injure Bleddyn, he caught the shifter by the collar, yanking her backwards.
In retaliation, her hands came down to punch every inch she could get of him. Face, chest, arms, stomach. Before she could kick or punch a place he really did not need punched, he lashed out, ripping the thick fabric of her sleeve open, and slicing the flesh of her forearm to pieces.
But she had shifted in a swift second, and was pelting toward a opening in the battle.
"Don't let her get away!"

Toby looked at Brisa. "Same. When this is over I think I'm going to quit my current jobs and work as a bed tester. I heard it pays well." He said, shrugging. He trudged over the coals, briefly stopping to look up at Indigo. "You were supposed to wait by the cars, where you wouldn't get hurt," he said. He saw Mapleshade shift, and dove after her, grabbing her by the neck, doing his best to ignore the pain as her claws and teeth sank into him. He wasn't expecting to actually catch her, so when he did it came as a surprise. "Hey, can-can someone kill her now please? Quickly?" Toby asked, looking around.
