«We Could Be Legends»

Toby glanced at Lachlan. "I saw you had Alice. Is she okay?" He asked, shooting another Pure member. He noticed the sick look on Lachlan's face and frowned. "Better question, are you okay? How hurt are you?" Toby asked. "Listen, you don't have to fight with me. If this is making you sick you can find the others instead."
"Less talking, more shooting!" Crow shouted at them as he ran past. His sword was no where to be seen, and he held a bloodied pistol in his hand.
In the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a bird. He soared into the smoke, appearing again as a human on some unfortunate Pure soldier's head.

Grace wearily wiped her forehead, which had accumulated an impressive gathering of sweat. Her arms were tired, and not just from being swung about to control her electricity. She could feel her strength slowly fading away as she threw sparkling arcs of lightning at the Pure. But, like her mother's fire powers, she knew she had to use her body to direct the electrical flow. She coughed and tried to swallow to ease her dry throat, but found her mouth was just as parched.
Grace flinched as she heard a loud zap near her face. Her electrical shield, which was weakening by the minute, had caught a bullet inches from her head. She felt herself tiring and the shield started to shrink. Grace forced it back, even though she only knew one of the people that it was protecting by name. She couldn't give up, not yet, when it seemed like the Pure's numbers were getting smaller and smaller, and they might yet survive this...

Toby looked up as the unfamiliar man shouted at them. "But.. I'm just making sure they're okay..." Toby said, trailing off distractedly as Crow turned into a bird. He shot another Pure man in the leg, and then moved closer to him to shoot him in the head. Wow, my shots are getting really bad. He thought.

A stocky female figure stood by the river's edge, mist swirling around her, calling to her. She squeezed her eyes shut, and a ball of water floated over her outstretched hand. She clutched it, and it retained its strange globular form. Her arm reared back as though preparing to throw the water.
As she flung the globe of water toward the fire, it burst into a glittering rain.
The woman reached out to summon more water.
Fine droplets rained over the writhing flames. They did little to abate it. But anyone could forgive the hydrokinetic for the delay, for it was unlikely that she had ever moved so much water at once.
But the volume of water increased as the hydrokinetic woman's focus intensified. A rushing tidal wave poured over the flame as the swollen river generously relieved itself of its unwavering load.
Mikki's water had helped as well.
In the place where fire had once been, smoke now billowed in superabundance.
And the fire had become a starving animal, bringing about its own demise by consuming the last of its nutriment.

As the flames turned to smoke, Mikki flew towards the battlefield, the now-empty semi trailer floating behind her. With an angry yell she heaved it at a group of the remaining Pure, making sure it didn’t hit any Inhumans. It hit the ground with a large bang that echoed through the air as Mikki landed, pulling out her pistol and aiming at a man in front of her.

Brisa was fading in and out of consciousness. She thought she recognized some of her friends’ voices, breathing a sigh of relief that the Pure hadn’t found her. She could feel her hands shaking but couldn’t summon the strength to move, and she hurt. A lot. The pain in her shoulder was deep and throbbed throughout her upper body, and she had no concept of time. Her shoulder felt wet, and she had a dizzy realization that it was blood. A delirious thought entered her head. This dress is ruined. And I’m gonna die without meeting my favorite celebrity.

Alice coughed, and tried to roll over, how could her eyes burn when they weren't even open? The awkward angle she was set in the car made rolling over impossible. She opened one glassy eye to peer at her surroundings. Where was she? Not home in bed was all she could conclude in the dark.
She sat up on the seat and turned to look out the open sliding door of the van. Finley was just outside the door lit up with an orange glow from a nearby fire. Alice stared at him, his clothes covered in soot, dirt, and blood. What had happened? She remembered being in Wolfram's car with River, but this wasn't his car. How could she have slept through that? How long had she slept? It was early in the day last she could remember.
"Finley? W-What happened?"
Finlay's head snapped around to her voice, his eyes bloodshot. "Thank God, you're awake. We got the key, but Mapleshade stole it. Apparently Silver did something to it before she died-- It didn't effect anyone. But it destroyed the city. Everything made of metal-- It's just gone. And Wolfram and Jenna drove everyone out here to the cave, there was a huge fight... And Connor..." His voice caught in his throat before he started to deliver the news of Connor's, Sherri's, and Jenna's deaths.
"Yeah, Alice is fine. She's with Finlay at the van. And um, I'm okay. I can keep fighting. I've just got some cuts, that's it." Lachlan answered, giving a nod towards his arm which was wrapped poorly in a blood-drenched piece of cloth before firing another shot at a Pure.

"Right, because I'm going to leave you out here with a bunch psycho's," Wolfram hissed, though his voice was hardly audible. Lily.
At the name, he bolted upright, cursing furiously. "Lily...she was hurt when the city fell..." Promptly, something rammed into his chest, almost throwing him to the ground, but he caught himself quickly. A shaking, coughing, sobbing figure stared up at him, green eyes wide.
"Wolfram?" Lily whimpered, brushing strands of hair from her face.
"It's me, it's Wolfram. Are you alright?"
She gave a hollow laugh. "Is anyone really alright?" She muttered, and then threw her arms around her neck, burying her face against the shredded remains of his sweatshirt.
He swallowed a gasp of agony, his arm snaking around her back to hold her up. She felt so fragile in his arms, more fragile then he ever remembered her being. He turned to River with a wince. "What about Sherri? Jenna, Jessi? Peter and Grace?"
River's face drained of color completely, remembering the bodies of her friends she had seen. "Jessi is fine, I think. I don't know about Peter or Grace. But Jenna and Sherri... They're gone. I found their bodies while we were fighting. Shadow killed Sherri, someone shot Jenna."

Toby raised an eyebrow. "Just some cuts? Those 'cuts' look really bad." He said. He moved from behind the tree to a fallen Pure man. Using his knife, he cut the sleeve off of the man's shirt and then quickly moved back to Lachlan. "Here, let me wrap it. This should help some of the bleeding." Toby said, gently wrapping the sleeve around Lachlan's arm.

The words delivered a pain so sharp it felt almost physical; Wolfram's arm subconsciously tightening around Lily. Lily gave a sob at River's words, clinging to Wolfram to steady herself.
"Sherri and Jenna..." He rasped. Neither of them he had gotten along with, but neither he wished dead.
Drawing in a breath, he gave a nod. "We have to stop this. I can't let anymore people die, Pure or not."
"But the Pure are the ones killing our friends, Wolfram, of course we want them dead!" Lily snapped her tear-stained face up, staring at him with a piercing green stare.
"Pure or not, no one deserves to get killed. Not even Mapleshade." He hissed, struggling to hold himself and help hold Lily upright. "We have to stop this. Somehow. Question is...how? Because I'm pretty sure, 'hey people who are murdering us, please stop so we can live!' Isn't going to work."

"Seriously?" River muttered, her mouth nearly completely dropped open. "You're serious." Well, they tricked Thomas in obeying them back when Firestein was around, didn't they? And Mapleshade is dead, that's what important. As long as we trap the others or something it'll be... Fine.
"I hate the Pure, but you may be slightly right. Fine, okay. Mikki and Brisa could keep them from moving and stuff, and if we had ropes we could tie them up while they were incapacitated... Seen any ice-benders stronger than Camilla around?" She said slowly, taking her dear time.
