Wolfram was caught entirely off-guard by her words, distracted by the Pure retreating while he waited for her answer in the agonizing quiet. His head turned, gaze downcast to reach hers as he kept the same silence she had when he first spoke. No, he didn't know. He hadn't stopped long enough to think about; her words were like an alarm clock going off as he realized: It's going to be so hard...Bleddyn was startled by Wolfram's sudden appearance and stumbled a few steps backward. She stared up at him for a long moment, steadying her breathing after letting it go wild with helpless despair. And as their silence stretched on, she came to realize that the scattered Pure she'd heard nearby seemed to be retreating into the woods rather than approaching with animosity.
Finally, she spoke. "It's going to be hard, you know?" She went to stuff her hands into her pockets, but ended up ripping two more holes in her battered jeans. "What am I saying? Of course you know."
"No, actually," he murmured. "I mean... I didn't know, until now. I guess I didn't think about it. Or I didn't want to think about it. But you're right. It is gonna be hard. But..."
He drew off, unsure of what he was even saying. His shoulders heaved a shrug, eyes falling away from hers and to the ground as silence filled the void of words. "I don't even know what I'm saying. What ever comes after this... We'll make it through." His gaze flickered back up to hers. "We've got to."
