«We Could Be Legends»

Jessi sat down, shrugging. “Not- not really. It’s going to take time getting used to, you know?” She said, wiping a few tears out of her eyes. “I never thought they could actually... die.” It was a weird feeling, having something you so strongly believed in suddenly be ripped away.
Jessi looked at Alice. “I’m sorry for everything that’s happened.” She said softly.
Alice's eyes widened to hold the sudden tears that welled up. She wholly understood what Jessi said. It was such an impossible concept that, the idea of her parents being gone just seemed wrong. She leaned her head on Jessi's shoulder, and wrapped an arm around her, rubbing her other hand across her own cheeks. "Me too." She whispered. Alice tried desperately to remember what had happened. How things could have turned out this way, but her memories were fragmented and didn't make sense.

Jessi closed her eyes and wrapped her wings and an arm around Alice, pulling her into a sort of side hug.
Even with all the death and destruction scattered around them, she knew everything would be okay. The Pure was defeated, and with all of the inhumans, the city would be rebuilt in a matter of days, maybe weeks at most. All they had to do now was to make sure no one else was injured.
Speaking of injuries. “Thank you for everything you’ve done,” Jessi said softly. “Without you, I think we would’ve lost a lot more people.”

"Sorry I wasn't there to save everyone else too." She whispered back. Alice squeezed Jessi's arm before letting her go and standing. She had to stop thinking about it or the tears would really start and she wouldn't be able to hold them back. "Is there anyone else I can help?" She asked Jessi, her concerned eyes falling back to Peter.

Bleddyn had so much more to say, but Wolfram's response took it all away for some reason. "Yeah," she agreed concisely, suddenly looking at anything but him. "Yeah."
It was then she finally came to terms with something:
This was her world now.
And she could either exist in it or not.
But, when it came down to it, it wasn't really her choice to make.
It was theirs. Her friends and her family. Everyone who loved her.
She'd seen how people broke when someone couldn't stay.
She knew she couldn't do that to anyone.
So she'd be sticking around for awhile. And sticking around meant warring against the opponent of all opponents- guilt.
She knew it'd be an interminable battle. She'd come to renege on her resolve. But she would win.
Starting here, she'd make that effort.
Bleddyn looked him in the eyes and smiled with the utmost sincerity. Her detested dimples broke into her freckled cheeks, but, for once, her face didn't shut down to hide them. "Thanks."
Wolfram grinned down at her, eyes lighting up at her smile. He took it as a beacon of hope, that maybe, just maybe, his words had changed whatever she had been thinking about doing.
"No problem." He responded quietly, his grin fading into a slight smile. There was several moments of silence where he just looked at her, wondering if he'd actually seen her genuinely smile like that before. Then he realized that he was staring, and looked away quickly. He cleared his throat, attempting to stuff his hands into the pockets of his sweatshirt, but finding that they were mostly inexistent.
It was a moment before he dared to look at her again. "You gonna be alright, Dyn?"

“Don’t worry about it. You did all you could.” Jessi said.
She gave Alice a small smile in return, standing up. Her eyes landed on the van. “Actually, yeah. Toby- something’s wrong with Toby’s shoulder. Could you take a look at it?” Jessi pleaded, gesturing towards the van.

(I’m dying :D)

Alice nodded, biting her lip. She put a hand on Grace's shoulder for a second trying to make her feel a little better, if that was even possible, before she went to the van where she'd seen Toby earlier.

She paused to squint in the darkness at the door, there was a darker spot in the middle of it. Alice tentatively ran her fingers over the smooth surface of the metal door, slowing as her fingers came to a rough patch and a jagged hole. It was almost like the door had rusted through in that spot. She didn't know what to make of it, so she just dismissed the oddity and pulled on the door handle. The door popped open making a loud squeaking screech as the hinges turned.

"Toby?"

"Toby?"

“Thank you, Alice.” Jessi said, following her over to the van.

Toby stirred, burying his face into Alpha’s soft fur. He mumbled something, but it was muffled by Alpha’s neck.
Alpha looked at Alice, tilting his head to the side. It took him a second to understand she wanted his partner awake, but once he did, he gently nudged Toby’s cheek with his nose, his tongue occasionally coming out and licking Toby’s face.
When that wasn’t working as quickly as Alpha would’ve liked, he pawed at Toby’s chest.
Toby’s eyelids fluttered open, and he squinted at Alpha, barely making out the familiar silhouette. “Whazrong bud?” Toby slurred, his hand resting on Alpha’s neck.

"Hey," Alice said gently, trying to see his face in the darkness. "I need to look at your arm. Can you sit up?" She asked.
