«We Could Be Legends»

Indigo’s mind whirled as she tried to recollect all that had gone on with her mother and who she had been tangled with while Indigo was young.
”So...” she said. ”The Pure is a lot older than we think. It wasn't inspired by the creeps you saved the world from, it was the creeps you saved the world from.”
River gave her a sharp look. "We know. The Pure came from them, we talked about that at my house. I thought you had been there, maybe not. They've been around since I was twelve, just with a less outright aggressive leader. But even Firestein killed Myrick and Kayla, and tried to kill Gage." She explained coolly, her mind flashing back to her murdered parents, before looking back to Fredrick. "I had just thought it went to Mapleshade after Jayme shot Firestein. Guess it went to this Lance dude."

"Excuse me if I'm wrong, officer, but what you're saying is, is that Mapleshade wasn't the...boss of the Pure, or whatever? This Lance is?" Wolfram utterly passed by Alec when he saw someone of authority standing with some of the others. I can deal with that after. This is important.
"I was under the impression that Mapleshade or Michael were running things, seeing how the Pure responded to them. But it didn't?" He glanced at River, then at the officer, brows drawn together.

Toby’s eyes lit up as the police officer approached. “Charlie?” He asked. Upon hearing the man speak, his face fell. That was definitely not Charlie.
Toby took a few cautious steps towards Freddie, squinting at the patch on Freddie’s arm to try to see which department he was from. Maybe he would know Charlie, and that he was safe.
His eyes widened at the mention of the police officers in the station all being dead or stuck. “Wh-what do you mean? All of them?” Toby asked in an almost whisper, his hand gripping tightly on the handle of Alpha’s vest. Nonono. That can’t be right. Surely Charlie made it out okay. He has to. He thought. Alpha pawed at Toby’s leg, bumping his chest with his nose in an attempt to distract and calm Toby down.

Freddie's eyes darted to Toby, he was being bombarded with questions, and didn't know which to answer first.
"Everyone that was inside. The building came down pretty quickly." He finally answered apprehensively. He didn't know if this guy had family inside and he didn't want to again be the one to tell this group someone they cared about was gone. "It had mostly metal supports. From the state of my gun.... Was there someone there that you know?"

"Err, wasn't Lance the snake man?" Finlay asked, glancing from person to person. He hadn't been there when they looked at the folders, only knowing by what Lachlan and Camilla had told him.

Camilla shuffled up behind Finlay and River, eyeing the officer. I remember him. He told us about Dad, and Mom. "A lot more's happened since then." She mumbled, gesturing around them. "How do you expect us to even find him?" She asked, some of her usual cockiness starting to return.
(I only just realized Finlay didn't say anything about the folders he only thought it. And I missed Camilla's question. oops)

River nodded, thinking deeply. "Matches what I know. I had assumed Mapleshade or Michael had taken over since Firestein was killed, but I guess they may not have." She mumbled to herself, then her eyes sharpened and focused on Fredrick. "If Lance is still out there, assuming he hasn't been killed by falling debris or..." She glanced at the battle field behind her, eyeing the bodies before turning back to the officer. "...Angry inhumans, he'll be trying to escape the city, with some Pure to protect him. Do you know if there's any highways that aren't blocked, or--" She pinched the bridge of her nose with a sigh. "-- Or if that God-cursed train-station is still operational? The rails have probably melted by now, but that's where I'd go first. That's where it all started."

"Ah." Finlay nodded, unsure of what to say. You're always so awkward, get a grip.

"And that being...?" Camilla asked, cocking an eyebrow. Her parents had never really told her about Firestein. Thomas had wanted to, she'd heard them arguing about it once, he had said he wanted to tell her and Alice so they could 'protect themselves' but Tayn had disagreed. Mom, why couldn't you have let him tell us? Maybe we could've been prepared.

"I'm gonna assume the underground ex-police station that Firstein used." Finlay said to her, trying his best to piece everything together.

”Who is ’he’?” Indigo asked, wiping a shiny black curl away from her pale, ash-covered face. She bore surprising semblance to a dusty piece of fine china.
(I think I answered this)

While he took a second to answer Toby's question, the others all piled on more.

"Uhh," He didn't know exactly where to start. "Under the police station, from what I read, was a large compound, lots of tunnels that connected to lots of different places. There wasn't a lot of information about it, but I did find a map, or floor plan," Freddie shook his head frowning, frustrated that his tired brain wouldn't cooperate, he knew there was a better word for it, but just couldn't think of it. "Where I found Sherri and Emily Sunday, was just outside of one of the entrances. At the time I didn't realize." He sighed, shifting his feet annoyed with himself that he believed it was a dead end tunnel when he'd been there before.
"That means that that underground complex, is now in use, by the Pure. It would make sense that Lance would be down there. No one knows it exists, it has access all over the city, and it leads directly to the subway station. Which, if he were going to want to get out of the city quickly, that's likely where he would go. That is, if it's still operational. Transportation wise, I didn't notice any collapsed roads inside the city, so, maybe this stuff what ever it is can't go through the ground, or maybe it just takes longer. I think that answers all the questions." He said smiling apologetically.

Toby nodded. “Y-yeah, I have a friend who works there,” he said. He hoped Charlie was on break when it fell, and was safe.
Toby pulled the sleeves of his shirt over his hands. He wanted to ask Freddie if he saw Charlie, but the tired and overwhelmed look in the deputy’s eyes stopped him. That, and the possibility of not liking what he heard.
It’ll be okay, he made it out of the city. Surely he has to be okay. Right?

Pity knotted itself in Indigo’s stomach. She wanted to ask the man how he felt and comfort him since he had lost so many co-workers, but she decided that would be overstepping.
“So much damage. So many lives lost...” she whispered. Even seeing all those buildings fall, she still had hope, but now she realized they relied on metal way too much. “It’s all gone.”

Crow sighed and rubbed his face. How many people are have died because of this? How many are going to die? "Ok.. so-.." he tried to get his thoughts in order. Crow had decided the policeman could be trusted, despite his instinctual mistrust of any who worked for the law. Running from the law for so long does make me suspicious of them, doesn't it? It's pretty inconvenient.
Crow inwardly scolded himself. Now's not the time to relive my tragic childhood. C'mon, Crow. "I say we go get this Lance guy. Cut off the snake's head and the rest of it dies, right?" That's what I thought when Firestein died.. but look at where we are now. They're back with a psychopathic cat lady and a creepy snake man.

Startled, Bleddyn whirled away from the van. Only once her eyes made out Brisa's huddled form did she relax. "Yeah, guess you're right." She spoke haltingly, like she had to relearn the words as she went along. "Glad to see you're okay."

“Thanks, and likewise.” She took a deep breath. “How are you holding on right now?” Ignoring the small commotion and strange new voice on the other side of the van, she closed her eyes.

Bleddyn was hardly able to reign herself back into this conversation when the policeman brought an infuriating revelation to light.
So...we're not done.
All of this, this, didn't end it.

"Is your mom okay?" she eventually wondered aloud, not entirely understanding what Brisa had asked of her first.

Freddie hid a grimace with a small sad smile. "I don't know who was inside. I was elsewhere. Actually," He looked around at the faces in the immediate crowd. "Have any of you seen Misty, Delilah, or Zion? I thought they would be with you."

Freddie's eyes widened at Crows description of how he intended to deal with the leader of the Pure. "You want to do what now?" He asked blinking in surprise.

"It's an expression," Crow said, "but it wouldn't hurt to.." he jokingly pulled his finger across his neck. Crow led a small smile slide across his face at Freddie's surprised expression. If it really came to that, though, I don't think I would hesitate. He realized abruptly, the smile fading.
