‘Silked’ White Easter Egger

Last i checked though, they wanted like 60 bucks for a small order and their birds were like 10 bucks a piece when I wanted them sexed. Maybe they're cheaper now, but I was not impressed by the prices
Things haven't changed.
For the total price of like 5 chicks you could get the 15 minimum of other hatcheries for the same or less and sell the extras.

It depends on the breed when I look at it. A sexed EE is $4, and a sexed splash marans is $10.

I would have to cull extras- I have a minimum of 12 birds allowed where I live, and nobody around me has or wants chickens. The price pays off because I can order the three birds that I'd like without worrying about them dying in the mail, having extra roos for warmth, or having too many chicks that I can't keep. Also parents.

Really? There's no one in driving distance from you that would buy a few chicks?

Not that I know of. Let's just say that I'm not in a remotely rural place...the nearest farm supply store (TSC) is 3 hours away. This is more of a 'private chef scrambles your eggs' than a 'go out and get your own eggs' kinda place. (to be clear-I don't have a private chef and am nowhere near that privileged. Just what most of the people near me are up to)

I kind of remember reading a thread from someone who was looking to breed standard sized silkies or something to that effect. It was maybe a month ago?

I found this ‘breed’ on MyPetChicken, a Silked Easter Egger. It is supposed to be a small standard and have Silky traits and lay colored eggs. It sounds like more than just a hybrid/cross, but not quite a full reproducible breed just yet. Not sure if it is of interest to anyone?

Does anyone have one of these? I’m curious about them. Not really a huge fan of the look of Silkies, but these look interesting, IMO.
Interesting. I’ve seen that before but I never even looked at it assuming it was just a silkie.
They look pretty good to me, due to their standard size and silkied quality. Don't even care about blue eggs, I just need a standard size silkie. Apparently they are 100% silkied now-according to the listing and their customer service that I checked with (they have wonderful customer service, btw) says the same. I don't have an issue with MyPetChicken either-they have wonderful customer service, sexed bantams, low chick minimums, great help sections, don't use extra chicks for warmth, and are overall a great hatchery IMO.
I kind of prefer the extra surprise chick (as long as it’s a pulled) but I mean who doesn’t enjoy an extra chick!

Geez. Sorry to hear that.
