“Beijing Fatty”A funny Chinese chicken

@AlvinXsu-KMG, thank you for sharing so many photos of this delightful breed. The photo with all the gold hens roaming in the trees is lovely. I like that they are a traditionally production-focused bird (for meat) which maintains an ornamental quality.

I agree with @AMERAUCANAS4REAL that the Partridge Fatty would be best used to breed with your Polish. Performing the cross both ways (Polish male x Fatty female, Fatty male x Polish female) will allow you to breed the offspring together next year and get some that are both silver and laced. Personally, rather than breeding the feathered legs into the Polish, my focus would be to introduce a Silver-Laced Fatty variety.

Shake hands! Haha

I don't like chicken pets too small. I like chicken that looks good and lays eggs, or looks good and meat.

In addition, I will strive to get SL fatty, and consider retaining more fatty factors.
thanks a lot~

I agree with getting the silver laced. Crossing both ways will get more gold laced, but considering AlvinXsu doesn't seem to mind this, that is fine.

Crossing both ways will produce birds that are pure for lacing by the second year, without crossing back to the laced Polish parent; these laced offspring can then be used in place of the Polish to perform the cross again, bringing their progeny closer to the type of the Fatty chicken.

Although a lot of gold-laced birds will result from this cross, the important thing to breed for is the lacing, rather than the ground-colour. As we are going to have to breed back and back to partridge Fatty for several generations in order to set type, gold will be in this line for some time. As silver is dominant, so long as Alvin can maintain at least a few birds with it in his line, he will be able to breed for its purity later when type is set.

It will be an interesting color. Silkies don't show patterns very well.

Nope, this is a photo of the conservation base of Beijing Fatty, which is located in Beijing. And I only have a backyard and a roof to feed my fifty chickens.
It's very cold here. I need a much more refined coop then that. I must have 60 chickens at least! (Well, including the ducks. By this picture you can tell how many different breeds I have.)
